Cortland County traffic stop finds three undocumented immigrants

Cortlandville, NY -- Three undocumented immigrants were taken into custody following a traffic stop this morning by a Cortland County sheriff's deputy on Route 13 in Cortlandville.

Deputies gave these details:

The deputy made the stop after seeing the car make a change of lanes without signaling. The driver, Damian Cruz-Trejo, 29, and the two passengers, Tolentino Mendoza-Onofre, 43, and Elisio Cruz-Tellez, 31, were all in possession of counterfeit and fake identification cards and paperwork. The driver was using an illegal North Carolina driver's license.

The three told police that they were migrant workers and were headed back to Mexico.

All three were turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol.
