    Coalition forms to fight anti-immigrant groups

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Groups in Kansas and Missouri have formed a coalition to combat what they call the bigotry of anti-immigrant groups.

    The Missouri-Kansas Coalition Against Racism, Anti-Semitism and Bigotry was announced Tuesday by its organizers. It includes civil rights advocates, union members, immigration lawyers and religious leaders.

    Organizers said 700 people in Kansas and Missouri have signed a coalition statement "rejecting the politics of fear, hatred and armed vigilantism."

    Angela Ferguson, an immigration lawyer who organized the coalition, said the group opposes what they called anti-immigration groups such as the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, which patrols the border and reports illegal immigrants to authorities.

    The coalition plans to train speakers to share its opposition to racism and bigotry.

    Ferguson said enforcing immigration law is up to the government. Being in the United States without proper documentation is a civil violation, not technically a crime, she said.

    She said private groups or individuals who try to enforce federal immigration law often are motivated by a false sense of patriotism.

    Minuteman meetings she has attended included "ridiculous characterizations" that immigrants carry dangerous diseases and have a cultural predisposition to drive drunk, she said.

    Ed Hayes, of Overland Park, the Kansas director for the Minuteman organization, said his group is motivated by a desire to see immigration laws enforced.

    The group is not against immigrants, Hayes said, but is against illegal immigration.

    "We are against people breaking the law to come into our country, and we want politicians to enforce the law," he said.

    Not ridiculous characterizations...FACT!!!!!!

    This lady needs to educate herself before she speaks.

    We are forever going to be labeled racists it seems.

    They're firing the big guns - the race card. H-1Bs of the http://www.immigrationvoice.com have been learning from the illegals, and labeling anyone who opposes [their job destruction] as racists.

    Betsy Ross, I think Vicky was spreading propaganda, I'll bet she is doing this on other threads to,trying to make us believe in the H1B and H2B visa are good for America, if there is people like this out there like her we have to work even harder. She was also rude and spiteful.

    There are H1-Bs all over the city of Detroit! I cannot get any interviews with any of the firms that hire H1-Bs because they flat out will not hire American citizens!

Forget about waiting for H1 approval notice, they are unlikely to wait even for the receipt notice. Either as an expense check or something else(cash, money order etc). There is another law they are breaking in the process of covering up the immigration law violation. The tax laws. By not paying you on a regular payroll, they cannot deduct your income tax and the employer's payroll tax. So it would be "Off the books"."
