I agree, they don't care about getting "citizenship", they just want green cards and the right to rape our social services system. Glad Piglosi realizes that WE, the silent majority, will NOT stand for it. NO AMNESTY!

This news is really going to upset the illegal alien supporting groups.

But it reflects a trend I always felt would emerge.

In the end, as this debate progresses, there is really only one side the politicians can truly side on and that is our side.

It looks like Pelosi is slowly starting to make the U-Turn.

This bodes very ill for the pro Amnesty people.

until ICE catches and deports those that survive horrific prison conditions?

Ok, enough of the fake tears here. Hey bud, you think our prisons are bad, take a look at those from YOUR country. Don't do the crime if ya ain't willing to do the time

    I am constantly amazed----

I am constantly amazed----at the APPARENT failure by elected officials to understand the impact that illegal immigration has on this country and my fellow citizens. Most of us, very definitely including me, until a couple of years ago, were unaware of the numbers of illegal aliens and the loss of jobs to Americans until the numbers here became so high that one would have to be blind to fail to notice.

The illegals were hired, at lower than standard wages, in the construction industry. They displaced Americans. Who do you know that is, American a carpenter or sheet rock worker that still has a job??? How many are left?? The illegals came by the thousands, then the developers, at least in my area, Atlanta, began to build apartments to house those who came to build the houses. If anyone cannot see that is "boom times" and a false, temporary economy, then they need to take the blinders off.

Do you believe that one developer would say, "Oh this is wrong, not good for America, even though it's good for me", and stop?? For them, living in an economy that is based almost solely on growth, to stop would be to end their businesses.

So here we sit, with a young citizen population that is into drugs even worse than the 60s. Ruined young lives from the meth houses that have sprouted in the immigrants' neighborhoods. Their fate is doubly doomed--they have arrest record for drugs that eliminate a large number of jobs and they have to compete with illegals to work for under the table jobs that do not pay a living wage. Perhaps they would have done this if the illegals had not come. I do not believe that. At the least, the numbers would have been much lower.

Then check into the subprime mortgage market that has almost sunk the USA. Find out how many loans were granted to illegal immigrants, thus creating, yet another false market. Then you will understand why many want to grant them amnesty-- to hold up the market that was created by the greedy. Now the government, (YOU) , is paying to bail out the criminals--yes-the criminals--on Wall Street. They will go home at night with their fat paychecks still coming in while you pay for it.

I'll stop here because most of those who come here to ALIPAC share the same feelings and patriotic loyalty to their fellow citizens and are aware of these problems.

The saddest part, to me, is to then look at the caliber of persons running for president and their complete disinterest in helping the American citizen. It is all about getting elected and little about doing the right thing for Americans.

I will go to my grave failing to understand how Duncan Hunter or any of three other conservative candidates did not win the primaries.

That said, I will clearly vote for the lesser of two evils--John McCain, whom I believe to be a conservative American in spite of some serious flaws in his platform. He, at least, does not want to change us to a Socialist society.

And just imagine if illegal immigrants received legal status, but not citizenship (no voting rights etc.). It would be about a nanosecond before the ACLU, LaRaza, Democratic Party etc. challenged this and pushed for full citizenship. While I'm pleased that Pelosi may possibly be recognizing that she won't be able to (initially) ram full amnesty (with citizenship)down Americans' throats, we have keep pushing attrition through enforcement as the humane, cost-effective way to solve this problem.

This may be encouraging news! Looks like perhaps Pelosi and her fellow Dems may be coming out of their comas, only to realize, that no amnesty( pathway to citizenship or any version thereof) is going to be accepted by the American people!

If she wants to use the economy( of course, which is a valid reason ) as her reason to back away( or save face) from their pro-amnesty agenda, then so be it!
