Richard, any idea of the backlog of those that have signed up but not yet been granted permission for 287g training?

According to a police report in Cleveland,TN, the City of Cleveland Police under Police Chief Wes Snyder provided an admitted illegal alien information to assist her in how to acquire a City of Cleveland Business License and a State of Tennessee health permit from the Bradley County Health Department. The report written by Police goes on to say that the illegal alien wanted to" do things right." This same admitted illegal alien was driving without a license and probably insurance, and she had no real proof of identity. She was cited for nothing and so she still drives on the streets of Cleveland,TN without license or any attempts to identify who she really is and if she is a criminal through ICE.

From what I understand future funding for 287g has been reduced (thanks in great part to Rep. David Price's efforts). Therefore, due to funding constraints, not all applications for 287g will be approved.

08/15/2008 - Currently, 62 local enforcement agencies spanning the nation have signed MOAs with ICE and now more than 840 officers have been trained to enforce immigration law.

18,000 out of 600,000 police officers is not crap, also alot of agencys have signed up and alot have applied for the program but ICE does not have the recources for the program..
