Attorney arrested on suspicion of accepting bribe

An attorney who allegedly agreed to accept $107,000 in exchange for coaching his client to lie to a federal prosecutor and a federal grand jury was arrested Tuesday in Century City, authorities said.

Alfred Nash Villalobos, 44, was charged with obstruction of a grand jury proceeding and arrested after he accepted more than $50,000 in cash as the first half of his payment in the scheme, according to a news release from the U.S. attorney’s office in Los Angeles.

Villalobos’ client was preparing for questioning by a federal prosecutor and a federal grand jury in a case involving alleged immigration fraud.

According to the news release, Villalobos told another attorney that his client would lie about his involvement and knowledge of the case in exchange for the money. The other attorney, who authorities have only identified as “CW2,â€
