Texas Angel Parents Speak Out Against Gov. Greg Abbott’s Cheap Lip Service on Border Security

    Shane Trejo | Feb 22, 2022

Following another trite campaign stunt from Gov. Greg Abbott last week, angel parents in the state of Texas are speaking out about the crisis at the border caused in large part due to Abbott’s derelict leadership.

“Lives are tragically being lost and communities are being devastated because of the open border policies put in place by President Biden,” Abbott said at a Friday press conference.

“These lax policies invite crime and contraband into our communities because dangerous actors can more easily enter our country and wreak havoc on innocent families,” he added.

But certain angel parents, whose family members were murdered due to illegal alien terror pouring across the border, are saying that Abbott’s excuses and blame-shifting do not suffice.

“This sudden enthusiasm for the border and for immigration issues is just theater. It’s a bit too little, too late,” angel father Dan Golvach of Houston said.

Maria Espinoza, co-founder of Houston-based The Remembrance Project, noted her meeting with Abbott back in 2015 where she raised many border issues with him personally, urging him to sign an interstate compact to secure the border. Abbott let the crisis worsen for six years before finally heeding her advice.

“If he had acted in 2015, he could have changed the entire trajectory of illegal immigration,” Espinoza said.

Golvach said that Abbott’s press conference, in which he used some angel parents as political props, is typical of Abbott’s all-talk approach when it comes to his inaction in securing the border.

“Suddenly, Gov. Abbott is out there acting like, ‘well we don’t want this to come to Texas,’ when he already knew it was happening in Texas,” Golvach said. “Maria Espinoza had already met with him to ask him for a statewide Day of Remembrance for Americans killed by illegal aliens and had already told him about my son’s murder.”

    Big League Politics
has reported on Abbott rolling over to the Biden regime, failing to exert his state’s lawful authority to interpose against the unlawful policies of the open borders administration:

Texas Governor Greg Abbott is backing down on defending the border after the Biden administration told him he couldn’t do it and he acquiesced to this federal overreach.

Abbott announced on Thursday that he would be shutting down six ports of entry at the border, enjoying news media headlines indicating that he was tough on the border. Then, only hours later, he reversed his decision at the behest of the Biden regime.

The weak, feckless RINO leader in predictable fashion is blaming Biden for his own lack of will and courage in enforcing the rule of law.

“The sheer negligence of the Biden Administration to do their job and secure the border is appalling,” Abbott said to the Washington Examiner.
He released an official statement passing the buck as well:

This follows a familiar pattern of Abbott posturing for the cameras and the news media as a strong leader before wilting shortly afterward and hoping conservative don’t notice.

With leadership this weak, it is no wonder that Abbott is dropping like a stone in state-wide polling among conservative voters. Ousting him from office and replacing him with an authentic America First leader may be the only way to save Texas from going permanently blue.

Sadly, Governor Abbott is a disappointment when it comes to protecting Texas and the rest of the nation from illegal alien invasion. He could do more. He and those he has appointed are failing Texas and the nation.

    Follow the money and loyalties.
