Lawmaker says prison costs statewide would drop if more facilities adopt program to check legal statuses of inmates.

Assemblyman Van Tran wants state and federal authorities to team up to check the immigration status of prisoners.
Tran’s bill, which would require correctional officers to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and federal law, would also save California money, he said.

About time!!! California has more prisons than any state........I wonder why? The taxpayers are overburdened in every way here and this is one of them!

ya sounds great.........just deport them......................................and they come back over the OPEN border with another name..........................................just frikin great.......sure am glad I moved out of Mexifornia, but the union is in trouble wether it's mexifornia or Oklahoma
