An injured migrant woman was found alone near a truck that crashed into a gas pipeline near Kingsville in South Texas, according to Border Patrol agents from the Rio Grande Valley sector.

The truck was likely driven by a smuggler, but that person and any other passengers in the vehicle fled the area without contacting anyone to to help the injured woman, a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.
Kingsville Border Patrol agents saw the truck earlier that night and attempted to stop it.

The driver of the truck took off and a chase ensued. Border Patrol agents lost sight of the Chevrolet pickup when it “rammed into a private property gate” and continued driving off-road through a field before crashing into the pipeline, causing it to leak.

The injured woman was found about three hours later, 30 yards away from the black truck and ruptured pipeline, the release said.

The woman was transported to the hospital, and a gas company came to fix the pipeline. The driver and other passengers in the truck have still not been located, the release said.
