In my opinion, there is lots of blame to go around. Decades worth.

Secure the borders. Stop telling the world they can come and seek asylum if they go through specific point of entry because we see it doesn't matter where they enter. Many of the world will come.

"Catch and release" is alive and well. The news of 500-1,000 being released within the past several days is proof. Now we have to give more tax dollars for better medical screening due to the tragic deaths of sick children. American citizens are too often told that there is no money for things to better their lives but they can certainly pay for foreign citizens illegally here. They can pay for their lives here and their lives and children in other countries through remittances.

Empty detention centers to zero before any consideration of accepting anyone. No foreign aid to countries allowing their people, their poor, their criminals to come. Mexico is not listening with both ears. They are the pass through and we know that their corrupt government profits from a porous border in many ways. Clean out both sides of the drug cartel activity.

The Defense Department of the Untied States should prioritize the defense of the United States through physical barriers that stop or deter crossings, surveillance, etc, to stop illegal immigration, criminals, terrorists, drugs, etc. President Trump should not appoint any defense secretary that doesn't get it and clean out the other amnesty heads of departments. Billions of dollars have been wasted on failed attempts at nation building and years of fruitless wars. We could have built many walls, fences, other. We secure the borders of other nations and in return for military favors we have gotten tens of thousands of refugees and third world people, most who hate us.
