    (Thursday, December 01, 2011)

Tucson, Ariz. – A male Mexican national with a prior rape conviction was apprehended last night by the Tucson Sector Border Patrol, a component of the Customs and Border Protection’s Joint Field Command-Arizona.

Jose Rosa-Torres, 26, was apprehended by Nogales Border Patrol agents near Amado, Ariz. During processing, agents discovered he was arrested and convicted in 2004 for rape in Butler County, Ohio, and sentenced to two years in prison. His criminal record was discovered using the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System, a vital tool that ensures individuals with criminal histories are identified and penalties are upheld to the full extent of the law. Rosa-Torres is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for re-entry of an aggravated felon.
