Border Security Guard Killed

EL PASO, Texas -- El Paso’s first murder happened on the border. Police said a border security guard was killed at the Paso Del Norte bridge. It happened around 5:30 Tuesday night.

Investigators said a man trying to cross the border into Mexico stabbed a security guard. After the stabbing the attacker took off running towards El Paso, but officers said he didn’t get far.

"Fortunately, a border patrol agent in the area was able to find him and detain him for us. So we do have someone in custody ,"said El Paso police Officer Chris Mears.

Police said the suspect is a Hispanic man. The security guard was taken to Thomason Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

People who work in the area are on edge.

"It's scary," said Betty Batista, who works at a parking lot near the bridge. "You never know what's gonna happen. You know, you don't know if your'e gonna get assaulted, you really don't know."

El Paso police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crime to call Crimes Against Persons at 915-564-7010.

I was gong to add a comment, but there is really nothing more to say. Talking, negotiating, or reasoning with our corrupt politicians seems to be a venture in futility. I think it's going to take a lot more than talking to bring our country back from the brink.

Another point for Bush's long legacy.

What makes me sick is the papers like usa today will make no or little mention of this -IF the guard had shot the illegal ,it would be front page news-also watch ethnic groups and mexican government give aid,etc to this murderer.This should be a front page story-do american lives have so little value?

What makes me sick .... If the guard had shot the illegal, he would be in prison after a speedy trial. The illegal will eventually be sent back across the border for the umpteenth time and be back the next day.

Failure to secure the border and build a fence has resulted in the murder of another American. This is one of the largest failures of the federal govt.

I heard the other day, that he was actually working on his legacy and a Bush Presidency Museum??? Who cares. How can he have a good legacy? What will be in it? All lies, of course. The truth would get him jailed.
