U.S. Agents Being Offered Bribes for Entry Across Border

November 19, 2016

According to the Washington Examiner, some U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents are being offered up to a year’s salary by drug cartels and human trafficking operatives, for letting the illegals cross over into America.

Sharly Attkisson, on her show, “Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson,” reported that the attempts at bribery are so bad the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, or CBP, are instituting new hiring practices and the FBI has 22 Border Corruption Task Forces targeting the corruption.

During her program, Attkisson interviewed FBI Special Agent Jeffrey Veltri, who said, “They ( the criminal gangs) would spot and assess individuals who would flirt with women and come through their lanes or potentially have financial distress in their lives, gambling debts, and they targeted those vulnerabilities”. Veltri added, that “in theory they could make more in one evening than they, in their annual salary, would garner”.

Her report cited, as an example, one former agent who received $36,000 for waving a van full of illegals across the border. Attkisson also stated that there is a possibility that terrorists can get in too.

Attkisson reports, “The vast majority of the men and women who work the border are honest, but the impact of even a few bad apples could be devastating.

They could allow in terrorists. In November of last year, days after terrorist attacks overseas, eight Syrians were caught illegally crossing into the U.S. from

Mexico. So were five Pakistanis and a man from Afghanistan with alleged terrorist ties. Over several years, Border Patrol caught nearly 2,000 illegal immigrants from 35 countries designated as states that could harm the U.S. with terrorism.”
