I think we should have let the nearby Marine Cobra attack helicopters have at them. That would tell these Zetas we are serious.

If Mexico can use armed soldiers to patrol its borders, why can't we?

MEXICAN MILITARY KNOWS EXACTLY WHERE THE BORDER IS. JUST LIKE OUR BORDER PATROL KNOWS WHERE THE BORDER IS. THIS IS BS. BET THEY ARE DRUG DEALERS. THE ARTICLE DOES NOT SAY EXACTLY WHAT THEIR MISSION WAS....WHY WERE THEY EVEN THERE. KEEP EM IN JAIL FOR AWHILE.

    they

They should have detained them for as long as possible....weeks if necessary. Hits like this from Mexico should not be taken so lightly.

The next incursion will test the next level of meddle of the US Border Patrol. Each one of these incursions is simply a test by Mexico to check BP's response time and response tactics. The US response should have been very heavy handed-as in-take them into custody.

It could have also been a diversion, while everybody was dealing with these guys several tons of drugs could have been making it's way down the highway.

Mexican soldiers apprehended in Yuma border incursion
    By Brady McCombs
    ARIZONA DAILY STAR
Seven armed Mexican soldiers aboard a military Humvee were taken into custody early Friday morning on the Arizona side of the U.S-Mexican border near Yuma in what officials called an unintentional and non-hostile incursion.
The U.S. Border Patrol received a report about 8 a.m. Friday of a Humvee heading north near the Colorado River and County 14th, said Michael Lowrie, Border Patrol Yuma Sector spokesman.
Border Patrol agents went to check it out and Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine sent a helicopter, Lowrie said.
They confirmed that the humvee was within the United States, he said. They spotted the humvee about one quarter mile east of the U.S. Mexican border, which runs north-south along the Colorado River. They were on the west side of the Salinity Canal, an irrigation canal that runs parallel to the Colorado River to the east.
Agents talked with the soldiers and determined they were from the Mexican army and that they were lost, Lowrie said.
They were apparently out doing military maneuvers and didn’t realize they were on the U.S. side, Lowrie said.
“They were disoriented and ended up on our side,â€

    also

Also could have been an intel exercise on the part of the Mexicans-drive a Hummer into the US and see what happens to you, don't put up a fight when you are caught, keep a mental record of everything that happens to you (maybe they were even wired for sound?) remember where BP takes you, what the layout of the BP office is, what the procedures are, etc.
