That town is not far from here. It was reported on the news that is was for HISPANICS ONLY. There is no doubt.....it's exclusively for Hispanic plant farm workers. I don't understand how they can get away with this.

What, exactly, is an Hispanic plant farm worker?
First, what is a plant farm worker? Are the "plants" edible food or
profit making house decorations for private nurserymen ?
What will be the definition of Hispanic--illegal alien, or anyone
who can prove they have ?% "hispanic" blood. Who will be
monitoring that the "renters" continue to be plant farm workers
at some low wage, or getting the subsidized apartment and
then taking a job an American "won't do"--like higher paying
construction work, or maybe even meat packing work?
Who will be making money building these lovely projects????
Who would "own" the apartments? How much profit will the owners
make?

Here are a few more comments relating to the USDA housing for farm workers. This news article says not for Hispanics only.
I was unable to access the entire news story located below, but this is a snipet.
“Misty Newby has lived at the Beacon Light Apartments for five months. Her husband works at a nursery in Warren County. When they read reports the complex was Hispanic-only, they knew there must be some mistake. “That’s a lie, you know. He said that’s a lie because there are several white families that live here,” said Newby.
While there is a large Hispanic workforce in the farm and nursery industries, claims that the apartments are Hispanic-only are inaccurate. Don Harris of USDA Rural Development said, “It couldn’t be f”
clip
The community is the first off-farm low-income government housing complex in Tennessee, designed specifically for year-round farm laborers.
Veronica Flores, who lives in a three-bedroom apartment at Beacon Light and works in the management office said the housing fills a great need for Hispanic families working in the nursery industry looking for safe, affordable homes. Monthly rent at Beacon Light is based on income, which Flores said helps. She said, "$150 for a three-bedroom is the cheapest."
The most expensive rate for a three-bedroom apartment is $460 and developersbelieve the complex will be an asset to economic growth and quality of life in the nursery capital of the world.
"It gives them an excellent opportunity to live in a decent safe environment. It's new and it's good for the community and the economy all around. So it's a win-win for all involved,” said Harris.
The project is owned by the Upper Cumberland Development Agency and is funded by a consortium of federal and state government agencies, as well as the Federal Home Loan Bank.
USDA will be monitoring the progress of the Beacon Light Apartments and hope to implement similar housing in rural communities acrossthe state.

I posted this on the MCDC Forum back in October -- even more outrageous!!
From Home Page of Floridians for Immigration Enforcement
www.FLIMEN.org
Quote:
Arcadia 'Migrant' Community is a Pseudo-Amnesty
USDA has granted Catholic Charities $6 million to build a 'migrant' community in Arcadia, Florida. This grant continues the trend of government grants to fund the open border agenda of the Catholic church. Not only the federal government but cities are funneling money for illegal alien benefits as the City of Jupiter, Florida has funded the Jupiter Illegal Alien Hiring Hall through the Catholic church.
This grant has the support of Mel Martinez, Bill Nelson, Katherine Harris, and Jeb Bush.
Per the announcement at http://www.sun-herald.com/NewsArchive2/ ... y=ew12.htm:
"Beyond affordable housing for field workers, Casa San Juan Bosco also will have child care, employment training, educational opportunities, home ownership training and on-site health care."
The main problem with this grant is that although farm workers are temporary seasonal workers under H-2 agricultural visas, the entire project is designed to entice 'migrants' to remain in the US. This project is contrary to the concept that temporary workers are to return home and effectively constitutes a pseudo-amnesty as Catholic Charities will attempt to transform the temporary workers to permanent higher-skilled workers.
Here are some of the other problems with this USDA grant to the Catholic church:
Given that growers and Catholic Charities generally do not comply with immigration law and given that the term 'migrant' generally includes both legal and illegal workers, it can be assumed that much of the federal expenditure will be allocated to those illegally present in the US. It is improper that expenditures be made to an industry and church that so flagrantly violate US immigration law.
The benefits provided are far beyond low-cost housing and include physical amenities such as single family homes, community center, play area, park, soccer and baseball fields and a nature preserve.
The social benefits of employment training, educational opportunities, and home ownership training are being given to 'migrants' when US citizen's jobs are being rapidly displaced by illegal aliens, when the educational system for the children of US citizens has disintegrated, and when US citizens are struggling just to keep up with the costs of their home ownership.
Growers are reaping the profits from the 'migrants' and housing costs should be their full responsibility, yet it is the taxpayer who is paying a significant portion of housing costs. FLIMEN is uncertain of the portion of industry funding of the project but the quote below indicates that the growers are contributing only $200K to the project. Why aren't the growers fully paying for the housing?
We need your help to protest this public funding of low-cost housing, amenities, training and housing ownership for temporary workers when benefits should be given to citizens, children of citizens, hurricane Katrina victims and homeless citizens including many homeless vets.
Our tax dollars going to keep the coffers of the Catholic Church flush As in this April article "The Catholic Church Encourages Mexican Invaders"

Thanx MOONBEAM and WELCOME!
So, this is how they're funding........Bush's religious plan. Shrewd!!
Give grants to religious orgs and churches bypassing Congress.
I doesn't matter a twit who lives in this housing. The fact that they're "migrants" and the "businesses" who hire them says it all. This will be filled with ILLEGAL Aliens.
However, This housing should NEVER be built, funded or have anything to do with the USDA.

Even if they are illegals is this a llegal use of USDA money? This seems like some project with child care, community center, bike paths and if this is for illegals-it is incredible. No wonder our food supply is so unsafe now the money is being goven to illegals.

This isn't about RACE........it's about the USDA getting into the HOUSING INDUSTRY!
We have the corrupt HUD for this crap.
We don't need another "housing dept.' run by this corrupt government.
These idiots won't even inspect the food supply properly!

All of the things Dixie mentioned has nothing to do with whether these individuals are discriminated against or should be due to illegal versus legal. They do not check social security numbers in many cases. And yes, it is about them doing housing also.
