Victims or witnesses of a crime would not be asked about imm
State Sen. Jose Rodriguez, D-El Paso, has filed a bill that would forbid law enforcement from asking witnesses or victims of crime if they are in the country illegally.
The bill touches on concerns that local law enforcement officials have expressed over legislation that would require or allow authorities to question immigration status. Rodriguez and Sheriff Richard Wiles have said such measures could create a situation where crimes go unreported because people fear calling authorities.
