W.V.: Palatine burglar faces deportation
Palatine burglar faces deportation
Daily Herald Staff Report
Published: 9/15/2009 4:27 PM
A 34-year-old Wheeling man who pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony burglary charges and was sentenced to four years in prison may be deported.
According to the plea agreement read in a Rolling Meadows courtroom, Abraham Veloz, who lives in the 300 block of north Wolf Road, broke into a home in the 1900 block of North High Grove Lane in Palatine. He was spotted shortly after midnight on April 18 by a female resident, who immediately phoned police. Palatine police found Veloz hiding in a basement.
Court County Circuit Court Judge Thomas P. Fecarotta sentenced Veloz to four years in prison. Because Veloz said he was not a citizen or legal resident of the United States, the case will be turned over to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
