I am from a family with a White American born father and a racially mixed mother born a noncitizen and whose own family includes relatives in both Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

I am concerned not only with the damage that illegal immigration does to Americans. Keeping the door open also hurts the sending countries long term.

The best thing that could happen is for a tightening of the inflow and a policy that causes those here to leave. I would prefer to see a five to six year process leading to 90% repatriation with remittances switched away from consumption to productive assets.

If the border tightened and the Mexicans who are here were made to understand that they need to seek a future in Mexico their country would start to develop faster. Two geographic regions Torreon/ Gomez Palacios/ Lerdo and Fuerte/ Los Mochis/ Topolobampo look to me to be really interesting situations.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
