12 people shot in less than 7 hours in NYC

There were 12 people shot — two fatally — in less than seven hours as wave of violence swept across the city early Sunday, cops said.

The bloodshed began around 12:30 a.m. in the Huntspoint section of the Bronx, where a man was shot in the back, cops said.

Less than two hours later in East Harlem four people were shot when a flurry of gunfire erupted on the corner of 135th Street and Harlem River Drive, cops said.

In that incident, a 16-year-old boy was shot in the thigh, along with a 21-year-old man shot in the heel, an 18-year-old man shot in the left eye, and a 21-year-old woman grazed by a bullet in the torso, cops said.

Then at 3:15 a.m., a 42-year-old man in Staten Island was shot in the face in on Amboy Road near Bishop Street, cops said. The gunman fled in a black pickup truck, cops said.

The violence continued in Brownsville — less than an hour later — where a man was fatally shot and two others were wounded on Tapscott Street and Sutter Avenue, cops said.

Then a little more than a mile away on Bergen Street around 4:00 a.m. a 23-year-old man was struck in the leg by a bullet and was grazed by another bullet in the neck, cops said.

An hour later in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, A 29-year-old man was fatally shot in the chest, cops said. In that incident, police have a suspect in custody and have recovered the weapon, cops said.

Finally, a 25-year-old in Brooklyn was shot in the abdomen on Wortman Avenue in East New York around 7:00 a.m., cops said. His injuries are not life threatening.
