As I recall the last one opened fire a couple of years ago on fellow soldiers in a tent in Iraq.

At a minimum is sounds like a conspiracy since there appear to be three people involved.

Thats right, there were three....and they opened fire at two different locations one right after the other. So there was some planning involved

. . . Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan was a psychiatrist who was on his way to Iraq and "was disturbed" about his deployment, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) has just told PBS's NewsHour. He is believed to be in his late 30s, and AP says the Army is trying to determine whether that is his birth name or a name he adopted.

Two other soldiers in custody are suspected of being involved, but it's unclear what role they played. . .

Obama: Fort Hood shootings 'horrific'

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama on Thursday called the Fort Hood, Texas, shootings "tragic" and "a horrific outburst of violence."

He expressed his condolences for the shooting victims.

"These are men and women who have made the selfless and courageous decision to risk and at times give their lives to protect the rest of us on a daily basis," he said.

"It's difficult enough when we lose these brave Americans in battles overseas. It is horrifying that they should come under fire at an Army base on American soil."

Government authorities are working to ensure that Fort Hood is secure, he said. The president asked for all Americans to keep the soldiers from the base "in their prayers."

There is no greater honor or responsibility as president than making sure U.S. soldiers are properly cared for, he added.
"We will make sure that we get answers to every single question about this horrible incident," he pledged.

Twelve people died in the shooting - including a gunman - and about 30 were wounded, a Fort Hood spokesman told CNN.

The latest I am seeing: 12 dead (including the shooter), 31 injured. Two others are suspects in some capacity, but it is uncertain at this time what role if any they played. That's quite a body count for just one shooter. This will need to be unravelled and analyzed.

I just heard that the killings looked to be pre-planned and execution style.

An Army psychiatrist was identified Thursday as one of the gunmen in a shooting rampage on Fort Hood, Texas, that left at least 12 people dead and up to 31 wounded.

One soldier, a suspect, was killed and two soldiers were taken into custody, according to base spokesman Lt. Gen. Bob Cone, who added that the three suspects were soldiers.

A Pentagon source identified the shooter as Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan; the source said Hasan was a psychiatrist recently reassigned from Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., to work with soldiers at Darnall Army Medical Center on Fort Hood. He was killed at the scene.

TV news says that the 2 under arrest have been released as not being involved.

It was all done by the one shooter, who is dead.
