130 Environmental Groups Gather to Discuss Clean Air… Just Kidding, They Want to ‘End Capitalism’

Environmentalist organizations met on Margarita Island, Venezuela, in July – 130 of them. What was on their agenda? How to make the air and water cleaner or discover new forms of sustainable energy? Nope, ‘ending global capitalism.’
Never mind that global capitalism is responsible for spreading equality in the world and lifting hundreds of millions out of poverty.
The “Ministry of People’s Power For Foreign Relations” hosted the groups for a meeting called The Social PreCOP, whose motto is “Change The System, Not The Climate.” The conference was held to influence the latest round of climate change talks that are going on this year at the United Nations.
These 130 environmental organizations, while “spontaneously” showing their support for the Palestinian war against Israel, issued the Margarita Declaration. No, this wasn’t a mandate limiting the number of margaritas human being were allowed to consume (although that would only be slightly more ludicrous).

The Margarita Declaration was a joint statement of 130 environmentalist groups that the only way to combat climate change is to end capitalism. Quelle surprise.

Some of the neomarxist groundbreaking insights of the declaration are:

Get it? Forget that the former socialist Soviet Union and current communist-run China are among the worst polluters in the history of mankind, and that the United States is one of the only industrial powers to cut carbon emissions – it’s all the free market’s fault! Try not to be blown over by a feather at this hyper-political statement coming out of “environmentalists.”

Now who attended? Just some of the biggest names in the environmentalist movement. 71 of the participating organizations were Venezuelan so it can be safely assumed that they’re allied to Venezuela’s socialist government. The other 60 organizations came from all over the world. Here are some of them:

  • Alba (Movimientos Sociales)
  • Christian Aid
  • Climate Action Network
  • Climate Justice Alliance
  • Earth Child Institute
  • Friends Of The Earth Intentational
  • Global Forest Coalition
  • International Climate Justice Youth Alliance (CJYA)
  • Push Europe
  • Third World Network
  • World Wildlife Foundation International

The Margarita Declaration wasn’t signed, but it was publicized by the United Nations (although they neglected to mention the conference’s position to end capitalism).
Next time someone suggests that an environmentalist group has been hijacked by socialists, as a Greenpeace co-Founder argued about the green movement, keep statements like the “Margarita” declaration in mind.
