Our legal system is supposed to predicated on the notion of a "reasonable person." So the issue would be whether someone mistaking something that looked absolutely nothing like a bomb for a public hazard to the point of actually using a bomb to blow it up is reasonable. I submit that such a person is nothing short of hysterical, and if the new test is predicated upon what hysterical people may or may not do then we are in serious trouble.
Crocket, what are you talking about? Let's say that it was an explosive device to look like a lite brite set and it actually did go off. You would be the first one to say that they did not follow procedure. Why would their be a lite-brite set dangling off of a bridge? Don't you think that is unusual? That is no worse than someone freaking out at the airport about unattended baggage. How do you know what it really is?
No, I wouldn't. Given a choice between and absurdist police state and a little more danger in my life, I'll take the danger.

Even the judge seemed skeptical about the claim that the object seriously resembled a bomb. See, a bomb has to have an actual explosive attached to it or else it's just and alarm clock. Professional law enforcement should know what an explosive looks like, but then who would expect donut chompers from Massachusetts to know anything like that. It's a miracle that anoyone up there even knows what a gun looks like, and if not for movies that would not be a hyperbolic statement.
Aren't cops trained to look for anything that is out of the ordinary? Especially when there are multiple odd devices. People sue if you look at them sideways, I wouldn't be surprised if they tripped over the Lite Brite and sued the city.
Cops are supposed to have at least the sense that God gave a bullfrog. This sort of crap is going to turn this country into a humorless gray Socialist state in which any sort of joke is a litigable offense and the possibility of someone being offended is so terrifying that free speech goes right out the window with common sense. If we're going to build a wall between the US and Mexico, maybe we should build the thing out of the Brooks Brothers attired corpses of all the excess attorneys. Heck, we could use the leftovers to make a bridge to the Bahamas!

    Hello and thank you
    And to all alipac members,
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of you organization.
As far AS MY GRAMMAR AND SPELLING GO, I slowed down my typing , I will not give credit to Microsoft, my wife or my children as they will hold it against me for life.
I did graduate college but it’s been about 20 years ago,
English wasn’t my strong point, law enforcement was.
I am now a small business owner.
I am president of a large Company, a Contractor and a Baptist we live in south western Ohio.
I’m what is called a C&E at church (politics) but we keep a great faith in the Lord.
I’m a Cub Scout leader, a father of 6, happily marred with our own home, I garden and yell a lot, I will not declare a political party till some one gets that big mess sorted out.
But I vote just because one is always better then the other.
Although, my personal goal is to deport all illegal immigrants. As the so called,
Un or non documented workers (which is a cliché) can’t be totally deported. I will report to deport which I hope all of you will do as well.
With the security of our boarders being at stake and the chance that freedom as we all know it could be lost, I am using all the tools put in my reach to stop this madness. ALIPAC is one of those tools. Some of you know me and know how I feel, some of you don’t, so bare with me. I will try not offending, disrespecting, or leaving you all with your tongues hanging out with jaws on the floor in the weeks to come. So grab a cup of coffee turn some reading music as I make my attempt to inform the public as to just how messed up the illegal over population of the country has become.

"Greg", you just posted this in another thread. It is poor char site etiquette to waste board space by adding this into every thread you come across.

Too late, I believe he hit every board that he was on. But don't worry, he isn't a troll. He is just here for the cause, or so I'm told.

You'll forgive me if I remain skeptical. I have a very short list of people I call "great Americans," and not a single one of them ever put himself on that list.

First of all the one thing found on one property looked like a pipe bomb so I can see the concern. Those lite brite like signs were no threat in the end but with electronic devices one can not be too sure. Many bombs used today don't necessarily use clocks and often rely on the item being moved or the use of a remote to detonate them. I think anything suspicous should be investigated as you never know. I could see this as the publicity stunt it was intended to be or a deranged individual. According to a course I took about terrorism and the obvious, terrorists want the most bang for the buck. They want to kill and/or injure as many people as possible. Look at the places groups like the I.R.A. and others put bombs. It is almost always in high traffic areas and in one or two places at a time. They are also very well hidden as to avoid detection. I don't think the ones used in the hoax were.
I think if there was concern it needed to be looked at and that the people who did it should get fined or jailed as they should have known better. In this case I also think that the police departments media relations should have not made a big deal about it until they knew the conclusion. In the end they are trying to do what they can to avoid looking bad.

No, the one device was ALLEGED to have looked like a pipe bomb by the idiots who treated it like one. There's a huge difference there. Did you see photos of the device? Some cop Barney Fifed the thing and now they're having to cover his stupid arse. Again, even the judge rolled his eyes at that claim.

But thanks for the report from the police state perspective...

I heard last night that Turner broadcasting is going to reimburse the city of Boston for all costs from this hoax.
