52-year-old man in critical condition after hit-and-run on U.S. 26 near Boring

Investigators are now looking for as many as four men who fled the scene on foot.A 52-year-old man was in critical condition tonight after a hit-and-run on U.S. 26 near Boring at Haley Road.
A Ford van was driving west near milepost 18 when it drifted into the center grass median about 4:40 p.m., said Lt. Gregg Hastings, a spokesman for the Oregon State Police. The driver over-corrected, sending the van back into the westbound lanes and crashing it into the driver's side of a westbound BMV SUV.
The van then traveled across the center median, where it rolled and came to rest upright across both eastbound lanes, Hastings said. A witness told officers at least one person got out and fled on foot, but investigators think as many as four men fled the scene.
Officers searched the area with a dog but as of 9 p.m., no arrests were made and the occupants had not been identified, Hastings said. Investigators ask anyone who saw the crash or people in the van to call state police at 503-731-3030.
The unidentified driver of the SUV was transported via LifeFlight helicopter to OHSU Hospital. He was wearing a seat belt and the vehicle's airbags deployed, Hastings said.
Both eastbound lanes of U.S. 26 were closed following the crash. At 9 p.m., one remained shut down as investigators remain at the scene.
