    Gonzales has resigned, officials say
    Embattled U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has resigned, senior administration officials told CNN today. Many lawmakers from both sides of the aisle have long called for his ouster after the firing of several U.S. attorneys in 2006. President Bush had long stood by Gonzales.

    It's my understanding most, if not all, those fired attorneys were illegal immigrant friendly (reluctant to prosecute illegals). If that is true, I for one am glad they received their walking papers.

    GOOD NEWS; BAD NEWS!

    Gonzales is gone; but word has it that CHERTOFF is taking his place!!!

    Why can't we have someone who is apolitical???? WE NEED AN AG WHO
    WILL ENFORCE THE EXISTING IMMIGRATION LAWS!!!! Are we going from the frying pan into the fire??? Gonzales was dumb as dirt; but Chertoff is sly as a fox. We are heading for big, big trouble!!!!
