Civilians perish as Georgian troops torch church



In Khetagurovo village

The Regnum news agency is reporting that Georgian troops burned down a 10th century Orthodox church while terrified civilians perished inside. The agency quotes eyewitness accounts of the atrocity after all-out fighting in Khetagurovo, a small village near the republic’s capital Tskhinvali.

Almost all of those fighting to defend the village were killed, but the report says the fate of others, mostly women and the elderly, turned out to be even more horrible.

Eyewitnesses report that Georgian tanks literally ran people down and that soldiers took almost all the women to another location. Their fate is still unknown.

Meanwhile, those who didn’t manage to escape found their shelter in a 10th century Orthodox church. Civilians hoped that Georgians of the same faith wouldn’t dare storm the building, one of the oldest of its kind in the country.

But Regnum reports that the Georgian troops set the church on fire and left those inside to perish.

It is the latest in a series of reports of the Georgian military attacking and killing civilians.

One thing you know for sure......99% of first reports are never the whole picture.

I can honestly say I know diddly about what's going on there....but I question just how "bad" Russia is in this situation. Too me, it doesn't sound much different than if the big bad USA finally had enough of Mexico and were fighting back for what they are doing here and the violence at our border. Mexico would be whining and the world would be calling us bullies and then probably throw in Mexicos oil as something we were after all along.

I still say with world governments these days......they need a video game and maybe a game of Monopoly and lock them in a room and let them battle it out and leave the people alone. It's gotten to where you can't trust anyone.....especially your own government....no matter who they are.

Very well could be......somewhere in the middle of the spin on either side is the truth. Just like we aren't exactly following the true Republic way anymore either and Mexico isn't our "friend", Americans aren't stupid, lazy racists that need more people either.......but who could tell from our news? Heck......we have concentration camps and are terriorists for enforcing our laws. You would hope there are those out there with brains, that would be able to see through the spin in either direction.

What happened to the days when there were honest men and a contract could be made with a handshake? Personally, I trust no governments for their statements on whatever subject, as it is always spin and there is a deeper motive.
