On Friday, one million rose petals fell on the Statue of Liberty, as a symbolic gesture of gratitude from France to the American people and the soldiers who helped defeat the Nazis in World War II.
The organization behind the event is The French Will Never Forget. The group is known for deep acts of appreciation towards the United States for helping liberate France through two world wars. In 2003, they laid a rose at the grave of every US soldier who had fallen in France.
What a beautiful way to honor the individuals who sacrificed everything so that others might be free.
