    Frustrated Democrat

Hello, I'm new to the Board. Guy from NJ. I belong to a local Immigration Control Group. Also an active member of the Democratic Party. It's frustrating that my Party is usually on the wrong end of this issue. There are some new Dems entering the House who ran on an anti illegal immigration platform. I write to Party leaders, attend metings, etc. This can't be a one Party issue. And I can't be a one issue person, as important as this is. For instance I'm glad Tancredo is running for Prez because he brings out these issues that we care about. But I can't vote for the guy when he's wrong (in my opinion) on almost everything else. Personally I want to see Wesley Clark as our next President - he knows what war really is and how to manage foreign relations, etc. We need that so bady now. I'm not crazy about his stance on illegal immigration, and have told him so.

    Welcome GUYMAN!

This can't be a one Party issue.
I agree. This isn't a political party issue. It is an American issue.

I see where you are coming from here. We should look at their platforms as a whole.

Guyman, welcome! I, too, am a registered Democrat; although, I've become a lot more independent in the last few years.

It is frustrating that so many Democrats seem to be on the wrong side of the immigration issue. The only thing I can suggest to you is to make sure you continuously let your representatives and senators know how, as a Democrat, you feel about this issue and work against amnesty/illegal immigration in whatever manner you can.

With a two party system being rammed down our throats, I really don't think that a person with an independent mindset should even be a loyalist to either party nowadays unless they enjoy having other people (party leaders) do their thinking for them.

I used to think of myself as a democrat until my state/town/life was overrun by illegal mexicans. I then realized that being a dem meant being part of the problem. I am now a registered repub but an independent voter. I vote in the repub primaries only because the dems in chicago are 98% traitors and repubs are the only hope for my future.

BUT, I vote for one dem because he has voted consistently against illegals.

Also consider the fact that we should be voting for the larger issue first with all the other issues being secondary since one person cannot dictate legislation on his/her own anyway.

Solve the big issue first then by the time re-election comes around he/she is either out of there anyway or will start working on all the secondary issues, of which ony a few percentage will ever come to light.

For me the largest issue is Saving our country from becoming Ame_xico. All other issues can be fought for over time but without an America to fight for all other issues are moot.

If we allow our country to turn into a two party, elitist run, third world pi$$hole, all the other issues will be decided in private by our two party masters and we will have even less say in the future destiny of our country.

welcome to ALIPAC. Regrettably there will be no candidate that makes us all happy. We'll just have to do the best we can to guide them and then vote for who we feel will help save America form this spiraling decent into destruction.
    for me the issues are:
Immigrations, Social Security, War on terror and a couple of other lesser issues.

    Guyman,

I might also add that we have some MAJOR LEAGUE repub TRAITORS as well. Let's start with BUSH, Martinez, McTraitorMcCain and quite a few others in the senate (long list, not quite as long as the dems).

I vote for the issue, the person, then the party.

I'll vote along party lines only when the elite of either party sets me up in my own mansion and delivers my cut of the illegal mexican labor market every month. Then I'll turn on them, in secret, and vote for whoever is anti-illegal.
