Oh, if only.

Of course, we do need to talk about the revolving door between Monsanto and our government.

Also, when Monsanto, and it's defenders, talk about saving the world's food supply, they don't tell how Monsanto is trying to get the patents on indigenous plants all over the world.

In India, they got patents on so many native plants, it was really sickening. One lady has fought and gotten some of the patents removed, but I shudder at how many plants around the world Monsanto now 'owns'. How many plants are necessary for the existence of poor people around the world, that Monsanto will now be able to say, 'we own that plant, and you must pay us before planting/harvesting'?

Iraq had wheat seeds developed over centuries that were resistant to drought, some able to be grown in the marshes, some naturally pest resistant. When America took over Iraq, the American in charge decreed that Iraqi farmers could not sell, save or trade their seeds. We then saw a great 'humanitarian' news piece about the tons and tons of wheat seeds America was sending to Iraq.

It seems Iraq had a law that one could not patent a biological entity - I'm sure that's gone now.

They say Iraq moved some of that wheat seed, which they considered a national treasure, to Syria. Hmmmmm? Maybe why we decided to arm first one faction and then another to get/keep a war going there.
