Train goes off the tracks, you find a opening to get out.

There were 2 Duck Boats in trouble, you don't know if the video you saw is the one that sank, you also don't know if it was taking on water during the video. I understand that for some reason you want to blame the people who drowned for this, but 14 people survived, so they found ways to save themselves including the woman you're calling a liar who lost 9 members of her family including her husband and all of her children. I just don't understand why you're blaming the people who drowned for being stupid and irresponsible, including the driver of the boat, who you say only drives the boat when it's on land, who is still missing, they haven't found his body yet as of yesterday, so he wasn't on the boat which they raised yesterday or they would have found him, which means he jumped out somehow probably with a life vest, because he knew where they were, he knew how to operate the windows, but he still drowned.

I did not say she was a liar. I said WHEN did the Duck boat employee tell her NOT to put on a life jacket?

AT THE SHORE? When there was NO storm and NO requirement to wear a life jacket on the entire tour?

When she got on the boat and saw life jackets...maybe she said "do we have to wear those"? More to the story!

OR DURING THE STORM???? He told her "do not put on a life jacket"...baloney, I do not believe it.

I said there are 2 employees...ONE is the "driver" who DRIVES it on land.

The SECOND is the "captain" who drives it on the water and is licensed to operate it on the water.

You want to sit on a boat that is taking on water that is your choice.

You also have a choice to grab a vest and get off the boat.

As far as "operating" a window...are you kidding me? It is not rocket science. You pull the snaps off, roll it up and get off.

If is was NOT taking on water...then how did it sink? And another person said it was taking on water.

You want to sit on a boat with water coming in and up to your ankles then knees...so be it.

That video you can clearly see water was lapping up going INTO the boat.

You blaming a boat for having a "canopy" on top and they can't get out? Why can't they get out the LARGE window? Really? If you cannot get yourself out a LARGE window, they how the heck are you going to get yourself out of the top of a boat? Wait till it sinks then float out? Not a good plan.

So you advocate sit on a sinking boat and do nothing? Not me.

I do not blame the boat or the people. You take action in an emergency situation or you do not.

Everybody so quick to blame everybody else, blame the Duck boat. Accidents happen in boats, trains, planes, cars, at work...it's life.

Blame the weather, which is the real cause of this tragic accident. Had the weather not change and a microburst happen...they would have finished the tour and got back to the dock. Can you control the weather?

Is the weatherman 100% accurate...hell no.

For every time our weatherman said we are going to have a major storm and then it blew over...LOL, I would never leave the house. No one can predict 100% what the weather will do. Then "freeze" and never leave your home.

That report was wrong, they accounted for the driver but haven't found his body yet. At least not as of yesterday, when they reported the distinction between accounted for and "recovered".

Okay, let me get this straight, you don't want to blame the weather which was not a "microburst", it was a warned storm warned before they pulled out by the National Weather Service, you don't want to blame the canopy which the NSTB determined was a death trap 20 years ago, you don't want to blame the boat design which the NSTB and the Coast Guard and inspectors and others say has some flaws for this type of tourist use, you want to blame dead people, many of them children. Okay.

The woman Tia said it was when they were getting on the boat, they asked about life jackets and were told they didn't need them, meaning to put them on for the ride, I haven't seen or heard anything where she said they were told not to put them on during the storm. I don't know where jtdc heard that, it didn't come out her mouth on any of the videos I've seen. She also said that when it came time to put them on, it was too late, it all happened so fast.

I wasn't there, so I don't know, but I'm sure the NSTB will do a thorough job in piecing it all together. They usually do, it just takes awhile.

I have been unable to find an article that makes it absolutely clear when they were told not to put on a life jacket.

That sounds like it was at the beginning of the trip to me.

I think the journalist have tried to make an already tragic story even more sensationalist by trying to indicate it was after the boat got in trouble.

As of yesterday press conference with the head of the NSTB team and the Governor of Missouri, one of them said there was one body still not recovered, that of the driver. That was yesterday. There was a report about the 4 bodies recovered, that also said bringing the death count to 17, including the driver, that was obviously a mistake in grammar, the driver is one of the 17 death count, but his body was not one of the 4 recovered. that was clarified yesterday in the press conference.

EXACTLY! AND NOT TOO LATE TO GRAB A VEST AT THE 1ST SIGN OF BAD WEATHER OR GET OUT A LARGE WINDOW AS IT TOOK ON WATER!


So, anybody prepared to get out of a burning vehicle or help someone else?

What would you do?

Did you know you can remove your headrest on your seat and use it to break glass?

Fine and dandy...do you know how HARD it is to take that headrest off?

I have a HAMMER in both my vehicles, on the passenger side, on the floor by the mat, that I can grab to get out OR help someone else get out of their car.

If anything, I hope this tragic accident makes people aware of their surroundings, how to save themselves in an emergency situation and think what to do and take action. Pay attention on the plane when they give instructions, pay attention to where the life jackets are, pay attention boarding a train. Up to you.

I was on a roller coaster when I was 16 my little brother was 6, skinny as a rail, back in the 70s. We went down the steep ride straight down, he almost flew out of the coaster, his rear end was off the seat...had I not thrown my body over him...he would have been sucked out. That was back when you had that metal bar, came down far from your body, you either have instinct to act or not.
