MSNBC contributor and historian Michael Beschloss posted a tweet on Thursday evening recounting historical figures who had been executed for sharing U.S. nuclear secrets with foreign governments, and a former CIA chief shared the post with his own approving tweet.
Conservative commentator Jerry Dunleavy accused Beschloss of “suggesting that Trump should be executed,” considering it was posted just after the Washington Post piece speculating that the FBI had raided Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate to find missing nuclear documents.
The Washington Post exclusive from Thursday afternoon attempted to offer more details as to what the FBI was searching for at Mar-a-Lago on Monday, as Attorney General Merrick Garland remained tight-lipped about it in his address to the nation.

The report cited sources speaking “on the condition of anonymity,” claiming, “Classified documents relating to nuclear weapons were among the items FBI agents sought in a search of former President Donald Trump’s Florida residence on Monday, according to people familiar with the investigation.”
An ex-CIA director and an MSNBC contributor suggest the execution of former President Donald Trump after the Washington Post claim that the FBI raid sought out “nuclear” documents.
The claim sent shock waves through social media and became a top Twitter trend.
Several hours after the claim in the exclusive report, Beschloss provided some historical context as to what happens to those who illegally retain and pass off nuclear information to non-U.S. entities. Tweeting out an image of Soviet spies Julius and Ethel Rosenburg, he wrote, “Rosenbergs were convicted for giving U.S. nuclear secrets to Moscow, and were executed June 1953.”
The tweet caught the attention of the former director of both the National Security Agency and the CIA, Michael Hayden. Hayden, who is also a retired four-star Air Force general and whose tenure in the intelligence agencies happened under former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, commented on Beschloss’s post.

Former CIA Director Michael Hayden made a comment on social media that seemed to promote execution for leakers of nuclear secrets.

A retired four-star general who also directed the National Security Agency, Hayden retweeted a post by historian Michael Beschloss, who shared a photo of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg with the comment, “Rosenbergs were convicted for giving U.S. nuclear secrets to Moscow, and were executed June 1953:”
“Sounds about right,” Hayden tweeted Thursday night.
Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were American citizens convicted in 1951 of spying on behalf of the Soviet Union. The couple provided top-secret information that included valuable nuclear weapon designs. They were executed in 1953.

Former CIA Director Michael Hayden endorsed the execution of Donald Trump following a Washington Post report that the FBI raided the former president’s Mar-a-Lago resort in search of classified documents related to nuclear weapons.
Hayden responded to a tweet from presidential historian Michael Beschloss, now an MSNBC contributor. Beschloss not so subtly suggested the U.S. ought to execute Trump like Julius and Ethel Rosenburg. The Rosenburgs were Soviet spies who gave nuclear details to Moscow in 1953.
On Friday, Trump published a series of posts on the Truth Social app saying the FBI seized documents that had been declassified. Trump adds that the FBI could have taken these documents at any point before.

However, Hayden isn’t waiting for the facts. Rather, he made up his mind: the U.S. government should kill Donald Trump.
Before becoming a full-time anti-Trump tweeter, Hayden co-signed a letter that falsely declared Hunter Biden’s laptop a piece of “Russian disinformation.”
Hayden interfered in the 2020 presidential election and is now calling for Trump’s head, literally.
