WASHINGTON — The federal government must continue to provide grant money to the national community organizing group Acorn, a federal court ruled Friday, saying that the House violated the Constitution when it passed a resolution barring the group from receiving federal dollars.

A judge at the United States District Court in Brooklyn issued a preliminary injunction that nullifies the resolution and requires the government to honor existing contracts with the group and review its applications for new grants unless the Obama administration appeals the decision.

Where in the Constitution does it give the federal government the ability to grant money to special interest groups anyway?

Knowing how they just love to "interpret" as it suits their whim, Congress has probably taken it upon themselves to do this via some twisted definition pertaining to the " common welfare" of the population.

Since I don't believe that the Constitution does grant those powers to Congress, that's the only explanation I can think of

All they had to do was stop ALL grants and contracts to ALL private special interest groups posing as phony not-for-profit "charities" and shut them all down on the simple basis of lack of a public interest, lack of a public benefit, and lack of "charity".

You shouldn't be supprised by this:

Nina Gershon (born 1940 in Chicago, Illinois) is a federal district judge in the Eastern District of New York. She was appointed by President Bill Clinton in 1996 at the recommendation of Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan.

Exactly. And if the truth were known and exposed about the thousands of other not-for-profit "charity" scams just like ACORN or worse, people would realize that grants and contracts made to any of them with public funds of any kind is not only unconstitutional abuse of public funds, it's destroying our economy and our country.

Shut them all down. What the court is saying is that you can't just pick on one organization based on allegations triggering a bill of attainder violation, you have to shut them ALL down based on consistent constitutional public policy, all of them across the board.

Public law already dictates that any and every 501 C 3 organization that participates in lobbying to impact public policy or influence legislation is in violation of their 501 C 3 status requiring cancellation of their 501 C 3 designation. Force the federal government to jerk every 501 C 3 status of every organization that uses their organization, its resources or its members to lobby in any way shape or form.

Shut them all down. Now. The fastest way to do that without tens of thousands of lawsuits is to pass the FairTax that cuts off their money stream because they can no longer collect tax-exempt tax-deductible contributions. They may still have a dribble, but they can't sustain their organization or fight our government in court because they won't have the money to do so.

These organizations collect $1.3 Trillion a year in revenue, they employ 15 million people and own $2 Trillion in assets. Almost 10% of our entire GDP has been siphoned off to underwrite, tax-free, the complete takeover of the US government to impact public policy and influence legislation that has destroyed our economy and dis-empowered our own citizens to control our country.

    Shut them all down. Now.

It is impractical and unrealistic to deny ACORN funds for programs they have already performed. In order for ACORN to be cut out of future programs it would be necessary to draft protective legislation against shady organizations that cover more than just ACORN
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Dixie, the bill of attainder protection IS part of the US Constitution.

"A bill of attainder (also known as an act or writ of attainder) is an act of the legislature declaring a person or group of persons guilty of some crime and punishing them without benefit of a trial."

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_of_attainder

For example. All the US Congress had to do was pass a simple 1 paragraph law that states "no 501 C 3 tax-exempt organization shall be eligible to receive public funds by grant or contract except through a direct line-item appropriation approved by the US Congress and signed by the President of the United States. Notwithstanding any such appropriation, the Congress reserves the right to terminate said appropriation with 30 days notice for any reason or no reason."

If we had any honest knowledgeable business people in the US Congress they would know that half or more of the private sector operates on these types of cancel-able contracts all over the country, every single day. But we don't. Instead all we have are bunch of idiots running our country right into bankruptcy and an early grave for all of US handing our money we don't even have to thugs and traitors we don't even want doing anything at our expense.
