Here is the part that I find the most troubling:
Lawyers who have examined the topic say there is not just confusion about the provision itself, but uncertainty about who would have the legal standing to challenge a candidate on such grounds, what form a challenge could take and whether it would have to wait until after the election or could be made at any time."Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost." -- John Quincy Adams

I don't find anything troubling about this since I grew up with military parents, married military and have members of my family in the military.
McCains father was in the Mitary with US Military orders to the base in the Canal Zone. His parents are American Citizens and so is he.
Can you imagine what US Military personnel all over the world would do if they were told their children, born in any foreign country, that the US government had orderded them to,would not be considered American Citizens?
Crazy to even bring up the subject."When injustice become law, resistance becomes duty." Thomas Jefferson

No the state department states that he would be a US citizen born abroad.

Consider this. Is a US military base abroad, considered US occupied territory? Like an Embassy... If a person is born on said base, wouldn't that be the same as being born in the US?
