Here is the part that I find the most troubling:
Lawyers who have examined the topic say there is not just confusion about the provision itself, but uncertainty about who would have the legal standing to challenge a candidate on such grounds, what form a challenge could take and whether it would have to wait until after the election or could be made at any time.
So, even if it is true....our legal system has possibly morphed so far from original intent that nobody could legally protest?

I don't find anything troubling about this since I grew up with military parents, married military and have members of my family in the military.
McCains father was in the Mitary with US Military orders to the base in the Canal Zone. His parents are American Citizens and so is he.

Can you imagine what US Military personnel all over the world would do if they were told their children, born in any foreign country, that the US government had orderded them to,would not be considered American Citizens?

Crazy to even bring up the subject.

i am no fan of mclame but the least of my worries is where he was born... i just dislike his politics

No the state department states that he would be a US citizen born abroad.

7 FAM 1116.1-4 Not Included in the Meaning of "In the United
    States"
    (TL:CON-64; 11-30-95)
    a. A U.S.-registered or documented ship on the high seas or in the exclusive economic
zone is not considered to be part of the United States. A child born on such a vessel does
not acquire U.S. citizenship by reason of the place of birth (Lam Mow v. Nagle, 24 F.2d
    316 (9th Cir., 192).
    b. A U.S.-registered aircraft outside U.S. airspace is not considered to be part of U.S.
territory. A child born on such an aircraft outside U.S. airspace does not acquire U.S.
citizenship by reason of the place of birth.
    c. Despite widespread popular belief, U.S. military installations abroad and U.S.
diplomatic or consular facilities are not part of the United States within the meaning of the
14th Amendment. A child born on the premises of such a facility is not subject to the
jurisdiction of the United States and does not acquire U.S. citizenship by reason of birth.

    .
Yes, I absolutely agree that he is a natural born citizen. But it does trouble me that the lawyers seem to think that even if he wasn't, nobody could really do anything about it.

Those rules don't apply to the children of citizens though. Children of Americans born abroad are natural born citizens. Not sure when Johnny Mac was born, but this pretty much covers all the changes: http://www.americanlaw.com/citabrd.html

Consider this. Is a US military base abroad, considered US occupied territory? Like an Embassy... If a person is born on said base, wouldn't that be the same as being born in the US?

The Times is nit-picking, trying to cause trouble. They have their candidate picked out and it AIN'T McShame, who IS a legal citizen of the U.S.
