More than 6,300 given free medical and dental care

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — A week-long free health event at The Forum in Inglewood has provided care to 6,344 men, women and children.

Officials for Remote Area Medical, a Tennessee-based non-profit group, said Wednesday that 3,827 volunteers worked to provide $2,821,383 in services.

A total of 2,274 tooth extractions, 5,438 fillings, 1,984 prescription eyeglasses, 650 pap smears and thousands of medical exams were provided free of charge to needy people.

RAM officials said they had to turn away thousands of patients, many who had camped overnight to be seen by a doctor, despite admitting nearly 1,000 patients every day.

The Los Angeles event marked the first time the medical group held an urban event. RAM typically serves patients in rural America and underdeveloped countries.

Well that would explain their stop in LA then........

RAM does good works.....it's just too bad that in this country so much of their resources and time is devoted to illegal aliens in Los Angeles when they already provide so much in these peoples' home countries.

It just seems wrong that not only can the governments of these peoples' home countries count on organizations like RAM to provide for their citizens in their own countries but they are also guaranteed that same care for their nationals in our country to the exclusion of American citizens.

Ram must not use their resources to help criminals ( all illegals are criminals). Ram is making the illegals problem worse by giving them more "free" services. Illegals need to be cut off from services so they get the H out of our country.

I am very upset with this group, why don't they focus their time and attention on helping the American people?
