The tragic suicide of a 16-year-old girl named Amina Filali who had been pressured by a Sharia court to marry her rapist. This is how rape victims are treated Under Sharia law in the Islamic country of Morocco.

In the video below The parents of Amina Filali say she took her own life after leading a miserable life of abuse with her muslim attacker and his family in the marital home. Amina, who was raped at the age of fifteen, is now buried in a graveyard close to her parents' home. "He raped my daughter, he mistreated my daughter. She complained to me that she was mistreated, that she didn't get fed, that he threatened to kill her if she stayed there," Amina's mother Zohra Filali wept. Article 475 of the Moroccan penal code allows for the "kidnapper" of a minor to marry his victim to escape prosecution, and it has been used to justify a traditional practice of making a rapist marry his victim to preserve the honour of the woman's family. The victim's father, Hamidu Filali, says he was against the marriage but that court officials pushed the marriage option when they reported the rape. An estimated 12 million girls under 18 are married each year. Girls who marry before they turn 18 are less likely to remain in school and more likely to experience domestic violence. Everything possible must be done to protect these vulnerable children.

Under Sharia law girls can marry at the age of 6, just like the Prophet Muhammad from the Koran did when he married Aisha. Muhammad consummated his marriage with Aisha when she was nine.
