Nearly 6,400 people switch party affiliation during month before November election

    #WalkAway Campaign.

"According to the Tulsa County Election Board website, more than 3,200 Democrats switched to Republican and more than 1,000 independents switched to Republican."
Keep walking and running away from the Democrat Party.

Nearly 6,400 people switch party affiliation during month before November election (KTUL)

TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — In the month of October, nearly 6,400 Tulsans changed their party affiliations. Both sides have different opinions about why this happened and how it will affect the upcoming races.
Kimberly Fobbs is the Chair of the Tulsa County Democratic Party and David Arnett is the Communications Director for the Tulsa County Republican Party.
They said they have seen the results of voters switching party affiliations.
“There has never been a more dramatic difference between the left and the right than is offered in this election cycle,” said Arnett.
He said the trend slowly rises every election cycle.

“We’ve been tracking this for several months," said Arnett. "It seems that every time the Democrats and the national media start demonizing Donald Trump people start going into the election board to change their registration from Democrat to Republican."
According to the Tulsa County Election Board website, more than 3,200 Democrats switched to Republican and more than 1,000 independents switched to Republican.
While almost 600 Republicans switched to Democrat and a little more than 500 independents switched to Democrat.
The last-minute switches is something Fobbs said they see in many election cycles.
“Some Democrats as well as independents switch parties because they want to have a voice in the republican choices to make sure more moderate versus extreme representation from that party happens as well,” Fobbs said.
She said for this particular election the number of people switching isn’t what matters. It’s the voter turnout.
“We’ve got to make sure the same people who were vocal during State Question 788, we lost thousands of voters who did not return for the primary runoffs, it’s important that those people understand that their voices made a difference in having the decisions for our state made,” said Fobbs.
Both can agree on one thing, this election is one that’s going to impact the future of our state for several years to come.
“There is definitely enthusiasm and the opportunity for changes to happen,” said Fobbs.
“People have the choice,” said Arnett. “We know we are headed on a path to improve the country for the next generation.”
Time’s up to change party affiliations for the Nov. 6 election. People who want to change their affiliations later on can go to their Election Board office or website.
