BROOKLYN, N.Y. (WABC) --
Police are looking for a man that beat up an elderly woman as she sat in front of her building.

According to the New York City Police Department, around 4 p.m. on Saturday, a man approached an 88-year-old woman sitting in front of her Brooklyn residence.

The woman went into the building, but the suspect threw her to the ground, physically assaulted her, then tried to strangle her with it. The suspect fled on foot.

The victim was taken to Maimonides Hospital in stable condition.
