The real issue is that Americans who still support the 16th Amendment and mandated taxation are always going to be disappointed with the result. To achieve a better result, one has to admit that taxing someone else more than yourself by force of law doesn't work. It's never worked. It's why we have poverty, it's why we have joblessness, and it's why we have the huge cost of paying for those who can't sustain themselves.

If you want to cut government spending, then you have to face the additional fact that we have to get rid of the system that allows it and that is the mandated income tax. Everyone is raising hell and rightly so about being forced to buy health insurance and too few are raising hell and wrongly so about using government with the force of law and a gun in your ear to pay or someone else's health insurance, food, medical care and so much more. Until Americans can see that with the mandated income tax, they are puppets on a string controlled by the federal government, when the government should be our puppet on a string doing its job at a reasonable cost as we deem apprpriate, not the other way around.

Lets all come together and stop the nonsense of mandated income taxes, demand immediate passage of the FairTax, support repeal of the 16th Amendment thereafter, and stop the insanity of having our elections year after year after year preoccupied with tax increase, tax cuts, exemptions, tax credits, tax deductions, the rich versus the poor, employers versus workers, and 77,000 pages of other similar IRC stupidity.

When we pass the FairTax, so many things that are wrong with our economy will begin to right themselves. Employers will have all their earnings so they will have all the money they need in most cases to raise wages and salaries and still provide health insurance and good retirement plans for their employees or pay the comparable wage cost to the employees with some assurance that the additional wage is being used to purchase health insurance or being set aside in an account for medical expenses and retirement.

Also when we pass the FairTax, Social Security and MediCare are fully funded by not by employers or workers, but by the consumers of the products and services the workers and employers worked to provide for them, precisely the right group to pay for it. And the funds are earmarked by the FairTax legislation with 8.09% of the rate dedicated to SS and MediCare. If and when someone comes up with a better plan, then I'm certain it will have widespread support because every voter and consumer in the US will be plugged-in to the process including the benefits of a better plan.
