Thread: Pope: America needs to be a land of hope for all

"Americans have always been a people of hope," he said. "Your ancestors came to this country with the experience of finding new freedom and opportunity.

Americans may be a people of hope, but we are not a people of insane measures. The United States cannot welcome every third world inhabitant that demands a better life, nor should we be expected to! Pehaps the Pope should direct his concerns and comments to Mexico because of their failure to provide economic opportunity for their people.

Much of that "hope" you speak of has turned to bitterness and anger because of the abuse and sense of entitlement these people seem to expect from this country.

Perhaps the Pope should consider asking his beloved Rome if perhaps they could take in a few million illegals and provide food, medical care, social benefits, jobs, education in their native languages, etc.

Maybe the Vatican can support the poor of the world, they certainly have the funds.

Oh but they just gave like $20,000 for a day labor center on the Southern Mexician border. I think Catholic Charities drums up their own money, I doubt the pope sends a check for them. The Catholic Charities were outted for corruption last year. They bring in refugees and don't take care of them themselves. They just help them work the system, where they put huge strains on the cities.

Maine has the most liberal welfare of any state in the US, so we are a magnet. They move here after they get settled some in their first drop spot. The cold weather works in our favor some.
