'Indefinite Detention' Bill Passes Senate 93-7

Americans completely stripped of all rights under Section 1031

The Senate last night codified into law the power of the U.S. military to indefinitely detain an American citizen with no charge, no trial and no oversight whatsoever with the passage of S. 1867, the National Defense Authorization Act.

One amendment that would have specifically blocked the measures from being used against U.S. citizens was voted down and the final bill was passed 93-7.

Another amendment introduced by Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Dianne Feinstein that attempted to bar the provision from being used on American soil, an effort to ensure "the military won't be roaming our streets looking for suspected terrorists," also failed, although Feinstein voted in favor of the bill anyway.

The New National Defense Authorization Act Is Ridiculously Scary

    David Seaman

Fellow entrepreneurs, Americans, anyone who still cares about this country at all – this is a must read.

By the end of next week, the US government very likely will have the power to lock up US citizens for life at Guantanamo Bay or other military prisons -- without charge and without trial.

This means that, in the near future, a controversial Twitter post, attending a peaceful protest, or publishing an anti-Congress critique or anti-TSA rant on Google+ could land you "indefinite detention" for life, in the wording of the bill. No access to a lawyer, no access to trial.

Yes, you read that right. This would target American citizens, on American soil. Military personnel would be able to come into your house like something out of a Tom Clancy novel and chopper your innocent self down to Guantanamo Bay for life.

Details: There is a scary provision in the National Defense Authorization Act (fiscal year 2012) which is typically passed by Congress each and every year to continue funding our military operations around the world.

This provision is not a mistake or error; it has vocal backing from some of the most powerful Senators in Washington, including Sen. John McCain and Sen. Carl Levin.

The imminent passage of this bill containing the provision, which appears VERY likely at this point, would put our civil rights on par with countries like Saudi Arabia and China.

This is actually happening folks. Do a search on Google News for "National Defense Authorization Act" if you don't believe me. Please spread word of this — quickly. Our last remaining rights as AMERICAN CITIZENS are being stripped from us. And as HuffPo recently reported, an effort to amend the bill and remove the scary provision targeting Americans has FAILED.

Even top-level law enforcement officials such as FBI Director Robert Mueller are reportedly against this wacko provision, as it would limit and confuse the FBI's ability to legitimately investigate those who actually are engaged in terrorist activities on American soil.

But unless the public voices opposition — very soon, as in within days — this will become reality. When I asked friends and family members about this, they hadn't heard anything about the National Defense Authorization Act controversy.

The mainstream media is not covering this travesty at all. Instead, they are focused on whether Cyber Monday beat expectations, and if Michael Jackson doctor Conrad Murray's sentencing yesterday was "fair." Unbelievable.

I don't write articles every day, but when I do, they are on subjects you should know about. You can follow me on Google+ to see my newest posts and keep in touch.

    Unconstitutional, Anti-Liberty, Anti-Freedom

Iron Curtain begins Descending onto the United States of America

    - Sher Zieve Friday, December 2, 2011

As Barack Hussein Obama’s real (internal) poll numbers continue to plummet into oblivion, Obama and his increasingly complicit Congress secretly pass laws that will enslave, incarcerate and even murder their fellow Americans—for the explicit purpose of those who are currently in power remaining in power.

It is now becoming clearer and clearer that both the Marxist-Democrats and their RINO brothers and sisters may not allow the 2012 elections to occur.

The latest anti-liberty and unconstitutional atrocities include but, are not limited to, some of the following items:

    1. DHS still lists Christians, anti-abortionists, homeschoolers, libertarians, conservatives and military rank and file as terrorists. Note: Islamists are still not included on the list

    2. Christian preachers are now being arrested, and often beaten up, by police. A few preachers who have been arrested include two Houston pastors who were arrested for (legally) preaching against homosexuality on the same corner for the past two years. One of the police officers told them that they were ‘doing nothing wrong’. That was just before the cops grabbed their video camera, forced them to the ground, placed them in handcuffs and took them to the station. The charges against them are unclear but, appear to include preaching a message the Houston cops didn‘t like. However, WND reports: “Their hearing will be in Houston Municipal Court, which is run by [lesbian] Barbara E. Hartle, who, according to the Dallas Voice, is listed by the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund as “one of only a few out members of the Texas judiciary.â€

Do Not Let Our US Senators Who Voted for S1867 Return Home With Honor

I can tell you right now. Senators Kay Baily Hutchinson and Senator John Cornyn are not worthy to set foot on the hollowed ground of a national cemetery, they are not worthy to revere the founding fathers or the defenders of the Alamo. They should be forbidden to set foot on the San Jacinto Battlefield or the Alamo. They have betrayed the early Texans. If Sam Houston were alive today, these two would face the gallows for committing high treason against the republic of Texas. No Senator who voted for S1867 should be allowed to return back to their states with honor because they violated their oath.

We need to use the art of ridicule from Sol Alinski's rules for radicals on every US Senator who voted yes for this bill. They have violated the sacred trust of the people. We must let them know our displeasure right away. If they talk about the greatness of George Washington or Thomas Jefferson in a speech. We need to shout them down as a hypocrite and a phony. We must not allow them them dishonor founders in our history with lip service. They are not worthy to speak such things about them when they betrayed all of them with S1867. They are not good enough to speak before the VFW or the American legion. These Senators are not even worthy to visit a memorial day ceremony.

It is time we shame these people for what they are. A bunch of sell outs and servants for the bankers. They no longer represent the state governments as they are supposed to. They stand for special interest and crony capitalism. The stand for the money junkies and foreign interest for Israel more then the America's well being. Then US Senate voting for S1867 permitting the military to arrest civilians for no reason at all without due process shows why the congress has a nine percent approval rating. Now we cannot wait until election day to show our displeasure with them. We need to ridicule them right now and let them know they are not welcome home back in their own state when they betray the people, the veterans and those who have fallen in battle.

I am not calling for violence or to lay a hand on them. I am just saying they need to be put to open shame before all to see in their won states. They must be held to account now for why they voted yes for S1867. We have to send a message to these consummate politicians that we will not tolerate them anymore voting to take our freedoms away in the name of keeping us safe from terrorist. We have to to use every legal means necessary to drive these people from office before election day. This has to be the final straw of ignoring us and our wishes. They work for us and we must let them know it. They might not see the light, but lets make them feel the heat. Let them not return home with honor this Christmas.

Guantánamo for US citizens? Senate bill raises questions

The National Defense Authorization Act passed by the Senate this week could allow the US military to detain American citizens indefinitely. Civil libertarians are alarmed, and President Obama says he might veto it.

Senator and Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin and ranking Republican committee member Sen. John McCain. They support a National Defense Authorization bill which critics say could lead to indefinite military detention of US citizens.

Legislation passed by the Senate this week and headed for the House – and a possible presidential veto – could allow the US military to detain American citizens indefinitely.

The National Defense Authorization Act covering $662 billion in defense spending for the next fiscal year includes a provision requiring military custody of a terror suspect believed to be a member of Al Qaeda or its affiliates and involved in attacks on the United States.

A last minute amendment allows the president to waive the authority based on national security and to hold a terror suspect in civilian rather than military custody. But the bill would deny US citizens suspected of being terrorists the right to trial, subjecting them to indefinite detention, and civil libertarians say the amendment essentially is meaningless.

“This bill puts military detention authority on steroids and makes it permanent,â€

The Real Reason for Obama’s Threat to Veto the Indefinite Detention Bill (Hint: It’s Not to Protect Liberty)

Obama Wants to Veto the Indefinite Detention Bill Because It Would Hold the U.S. to the Geneva Convention

I – like everyone else – am horrified by the Senate’s passage of legislation that would allow for indefinite detention of Americans.

And at first, I – like many others – assumed that Obama’s threat to veto the bill might be a good thing. But the truth is much more disturbing.

As former Wall Street Street editor and columnist Paul Craig Roberts correctly notes:

The Obama regime’s objection to military detention is not rooted in concern for the constitutional rights of American citizens. The regime objects to military detention because the implication of military detention is that detainees are prisoners of war. As Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin put it: Should somebody determined “to be a member of an enemy force who has come to this nation or is in this nation to attack us as a member of a foreign enemy, should that person be treated according to the laws of war? The answer is yes.â€
