Therein lies the juice of the whole fruit.
Are we to crush misinformation or passively comply when it fits our individual internal dialogue?

The shooter was mixed race. A newspaper said he was black.

The president is mixed race. But they call him the first BLACK president.


Most African americans are mixed race.

Most say they are black.

Most don't talk much about the White part of that mixed race.

The reason the LA Times did this is the same reason that DHS offices and Arizona media ran out and originally claimed Loughner was a "Tea Party" person after he shot Gabriella Giffords.

It was a complete lie and Loughner ended up being a liberal Democrat and prior Giffords campaign volunteer.

But the psychology is that the most people only listen to hear what happened briefly when something like this goes down.

So if LA Times runs out and shouts "he was a white supremacist" and CNN then runs with that story using racially ambiguous photos of Mercer... then 90% of the attention goes away with that impression.

The rest of us that read the news more closely and in between terrorist attacks and mass murders see the corrections and true stories but the 90% that only tunes in for a day or so when something major happens still carries with them the standard lie that the media spouts out no matter who it is.

Just like our "White Hispanic" gun owner George Zimmerman who was made out to be a murderous white male in the media when he was a Hispanic Jewish Democrat Obama supporters that tutored black kids in his free time!

Maybe because "Hispanic" is a superset
of the societal construct we know of as
"race".

Whatever GZ is made up of, I'm sure, "fool"
is the major active ingredient of his DNA.
