President Donald Trump signed an $854 billion spending bill on Friday to keep the federal government open through Dec. 7, averting a government shutdown in the weeks leading up to the November midterm elections.

Trump signed the legislation to fund the military and several civilian agencies without journalists present, according to a White House official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the action. The House and Senate approved the spending plan earlier this week.

Trump's signature avoids a shutdown before the Nov. 6 elections that will determine control of Congress. But he has expressed deep frustration that the bill does not pay for his long-promised wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. GOP leaders had warned Trump a shutdown could be deeply damaging to Republicans, but Trump had made the case a shutdown could, in fact, be beneficial.

The spending plan includes $675 billion for the Defense Department and increases military pay by 2.6 percent, the largest pay raise in nine years.

Yes, GeorgiaPeach, we will always be there until Republicans get out and work their tails off to elect 60 Republicans to the US Senate while still having a majority in the US House of Representatives. We have to elect more Republicans so we actually control both chambers of Congress while we have the White House with a President who is on our team. It's now or never, Republicans have to stick together and get out there and win these mid-terms BIGLY!!

Yep, but if I remember correctly we were told we wouldn't go there again! Hmm, now if I could only remember who said that?!?

That was a different situation last year. Last year it was the whole bill that included DHS. This time he's just signing parts of the whole bill with the last part that includes DHS still to be done after the mid-terms, probably next year after we have more Republicans to vote on it.

This excuse is getting really old and wore out. If, Trump wanted a Border Wall, he could use some of the 654 billion from defense spending, it has become very obvious neither a Border Wall nor stopping the invasion are even on his radar.

You can't hide it from us. We remember the hundreds of times you promised during your campaign.

You have become Fake Promises to go along with the Fake News.

We don't even have 51 votes to finish the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the US Supreme Court, and you think we can get 60 votes to pass a spending bill that has $25 billion for border security and the wall? Not even Miracle Worker Trump can do that.
