First Benghazi whistleblower emerges

It’s subpoena time. And Hillary Clinton’s book tour may not be a warm-up for a presidential campaign so much as a financial and ego exercise. There will be hell to pay on the campaign trail, unless the GOP nominates a dummy.

President Obama is poised to reap a whirlwind of consequences for his conduct of the war on terror. Iraq is falling into the hands of the enemy President Bush had defeated on the battlefield. The fact that the Obama administration lied to the American people about the Benghazi attack in order to smooth his re-election makes his failures in conducting the affairs of state not merely a matter of incompetence or honest mistakes but actual venality.

A new report makes these consequences closer to reality.

The Obama administration knew that the Benghazi attack was carried out by terrorists right away, because they listened in on cell phone conversations between the raiders and their leaders, according to testimony given by the first whistleblower to break through the wall of silence. Bret Baier and James Rosen of Fox News (the most trusted TV news source in America) have broken the story and put the lie to Susan Rice, Hillary Clinton and all the president’s men and women.

The terrorists who attacked the U.S. consulate and CIA annex in Benghazi on September 11, 2012 used cell phones, seized from State Department personnel during the attacks, and U.S. spy agencies overheard them contacting more senior terrorist leaders to report on the success of the operation, multiple sources confirmed to Fox News.
The disclosure is important because it adds to the body of evidence establishing that senior U.S. officials in the Obama administration knew early on that Benghazi was a terrorist attack, and not a spontaneous protest over an anti-Islam video that had gone awry, as the administration claimed for several weeks after the attacks.
Eric Stahl, who recently retired as a major in the U.S. Air Force, served as commander and pilot of the C-17 aircraft that was used to transport the corpses of the four casualties from the Benghazi attacks – then-U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens, information officer Sean Smith, and former Navy SEALs Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods – as well as the assault’s survivors from Tripoli to the safety of an American military base in Ramstein, Germany.

In an exclusive interview on Fox News’ “Special Report,” Stahl said members of a CIA-trained Global Response Staff who raced to the scene of the attacks were “confused” by the administration’s repeated implication of the video as a trigger for the attacks, because “they knew during the attack…who was doing the attacking.” Asked how, Stahl told anchor Bret Baier: “Right after they left the consulate in Benghazi and went to the [CIA] safehouse, they were getting reports that cell phones, consulate cell phones, were being used to make calls to the attackers' higher ups.”

A separate U.S. official, one with intimate details of the bloody events of that night, confirmed the major’s assertion. The second source, who requested anonymity to discuss classified data, told Fox News he had personally read the intelligence reports at the time that contained references to calls by terrorists – using State Department cell phones captred at the consulate during the battle – to their terrorist leaders. The second source also confirmed that the security teams on the ground received this intelligence in real time.

The report of the so-called Accountability Review Board – which is the screen behind which Hillary Clinton is attempting to hide – did not include any testimony from people with knowledge of these cell phone conversations. The fact the cell phones were stolen and listened in on does not appear in that report.

Major Stahl was never interviewed by the Accountability Review Board, the investigative panel convened, pursuant to statute, by then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, as the official body reviewing all the circumstances surrounding the attacks and their aftermath. Many lawmakers and independent experts have criticized the thoroughness of the ARB, which also never interviewed Clinton.

In his interview on “Special Report,” Stahl made still other disclosures that add to the vast body of literature on Benghazi – sure to grow in the months ahead, as a select House committee prepares for a comprehensive probe of the affair, complete with subpoena power. Stahl said that when he deposited the traumatized passengers at Ramstein, the first individual to question the CIA security officers was not an FBI officer but the senior State Department diplomat on the ground.

While the administration would much prefer that the “false controversy” of Benghazi be swept under a rug, never to be talked about again, Americans know there’s more to the story and want answers. While the Benghazi select committee seems promising, in the meantime, the public became privy to new information on Wednesday that further discredits the White House’s story that the attack was a spontaneous reaction to a YouTube video.

On Fox News’ “Special Report” last night, Bret Baier aired an interview with retired Air Force Major Eric Stahl, who was also the commander and pilot of the plane used to transport not just the 4 Americans that died in the attack on the consulate, but also the remaining consulate staff (including the wounded) from Tripoli to the U.S. base in Ramstein, Germany.
I highly recommend watching the video in its entirety, but here are a couple major takeaways:
- Those who were on the ground in Benghazi knew the attack wasn’t triggered by an Internet video and were “confused” as to why the administration was making that claim.

-Once again, we also heard that the U.S. military could have done more to help if they were asked.

Stahl also contended that given his crew’s alert status and location, they could have reached Benghazi in time to have played a role in rescuing the victims of the assault, and ferrying them to safety in Germany, had they been asked to do so. “We were on a 45-day deployment to Ramstein air base,” he told Fox News. “And we were there basically to pick up priority missions, last-minute missions that needed to be accomplished.”

“You would've thought that we would have had a little bit more of an alert posture on 9/11,” Stahl added. “A hurried-up timeline probably would take us [an] hour-and-a-half to get off the ground and three hours and fifteen minutes to get down there. So we could've gone down there and gotten them easily.”

More developments will undoubtedly come as the House committee’s work gets underway in the months ahead.

Hillary Clinton got testy while talking about gay rights during a radio interview Thursday. The Democratic presidential front-runner was repeatedly pressed about when and why she changed her position to support gay marriage.

"You know, I really — I have to say, I think you being very persistent, but you are playing with my words," Clinton told NPR's Terry Gross after several minutes of back-and-forth discussion. "And playing with what is such an important issue."

"I’m just trying to clarify so I can understand," Gross said before being interrupted.

"No, I don’t think you are trying to clarify. I think you are trying to say that I used to be opposed [to gay marriage], and now I am in favor, and I did it for political reasons. And that’s just flat wrong. So let me just state what I feel like you are implying and repudiate it. I have a strong record. I have a great commitment to this issue and I am proud of what I’ve done and the progress we're making," declared Clinton.

Like Barack Obama, Clinton ran for president in 2008 while opposing same-sex marriage but eventually switched to supporting it.

Lead Benghazi Investigator Receives Death Threat

In light of recent developments indicating the Executive branch has hidden key pieces of information surrounding the Benghazi scandal, a new panel has been selected to review the events of September 11, 2012.

Since assuming the position as the lead investigator, Trey Gowdy has received threats against his life.

Apparently, these were not empty threats. The Washington DC police found reason enough to open an “active investigation” into the matter.
Gowdy, who in 2012 was approached by a deranged woman wielding a gun as he sat in his car, is no stranger to threats of violence.
Politico reporters said they had received two emails that leveled direct and immediate threats to Mr. Gowdy’s life.

Though the exact emails have yet to be released, police have been quick to say that they are looking into the matter, and are working hard to protect Mr. Gowdy.

Though many on the left believe that the ongoing Benghazi investigation is nothing more than a ruse meant to drum up anti-Obama sentiment, Gowdy insists that he wants to get to the bottom of this ordeal and find out where the responsibility for Benghazi truly lies.

As MSNBC reported:

Gowdy has promised to bring a no-nonsense, “prosecutor’s zeal” to finding the answers and in examining the Obama administration’s handling of the attack. He has insisted he’s not interested in rehashing previous investigations by Congress or in “whether the appropriate questions were asked in the past.”

Popular TV show host Judge Jeanine Pirro of Fox News lashed out against the President on her show just a few days ago.

Alleging that President Obama has not fulfilled his oath of duty, Pirro blasted him saying:

“Mr. President, it’s called an abrogation of duty,” Pirro said. “You have not taken your oath to honestly and faithfully execute the duties of your office. As commander in chief, you have NOT protected us. This dereliction of duty as commander in chief demands your impeachment.”

“You swore to protect and defend the American people, but instead you left Americans to die, not lifting a finger to help them. Mr. President, none of us want to believe that our president will let Americans die, but the arrogance, the failure to act, the lies, the cover-up make it clear that you, Mr. President, have defrauded the American people.”

Clearly Pirro is no fan of the current administration.

She recently went on a tirade against the land-grabbing efforts perpetrated by the BLM against rancher Cliven Bundy and called the tactic out for being a gross abuse of governmental power.

Critical of Obama along with Democratic Senate Leader Harry Reid whom she called “Dirty Harry,” Pirro has been clamoring for the impeachment of the President based on his inability to perform his elected duties.

Noting that the President has a tendency to cover-up for his own political advantage, Pirro was sparked to outrage over the recent developments in the Benghazi scandal.

This, she claims, is just another incident in a long list of both moral and political failings that should send Obama straight out of the Whitehouse.

“We came out of the White House not only dead broke, but in debt … We had no money when we got there, and we struggled to, you know, piece together the resources for mortgages, for houses, for Chelsea’s education. You know, it was not easy. … Bill has worked really hard — and it’s been amazing to me — he’s worked very hard. First of all, we had to pay off all our debts. He had to make double the money because of obviously taxes and then pay off the debts and get us houses and take care of family members. … I thought making speeches for money was a much better thing than getting connected with any one group or company as so many people who leave public life do.”

Aw. Poor little Hillary. It’s gotta be rough having to pay for those million dollar homes.
John Kass of the Chicago Tribune had this to say about poor ‘ol Hil’s interview:

Listening to Hillary, you could almost hear a stressed woman, say, who works as a cashier at some all-night supermarket and comes home to put her swollen feet in a pan of warm water. Or the man working two or three part-time jobs to feed the kids macaroni and potatoes.

Even Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel seemed a bit skeptical of Hillary Clinton’s comments about her and her husband’s post-White House financial situation.

During an interview in Chicago this morning for her book “Hard Choices,” Emanuel asked Clinton directly about her recent remarks to ABC News.
“Dead broke,” Emanuel said. “Really?”
To some audience laughter at the event for Chicago Ideas Week, Clinton admitted her word choice was not ideal.
“That may have not been the most artful way of saying that Bill and I have gone through a lot of different phases in our lives,” she told Emanuel, a longtime friend and former adviser to President Clinton. “That was then, this is now. Obviously, we are very fortunate. We’ve been given great opportunities.”

Come on, man – she’s got a book to sell! Don’t question her misfortunes. She GETS what is is like for hard-working Americans. Don’t tarnish her moment.

Today, we learned that Chelsea Clinton has been taking home an annual salary of $600,000 for her work as a “special correspondent” for NBC News.

In case you had no idea NBC News was employing the Clinton scion, here is an example of her “work”:
On the one hand, $600,000 seems like a fair salary for an only child who has to support her struggling parents. On the other, Chelsea’s annual income is equivalent to what Hillary Clinton receives for three hours of work on the public speaking circuit. It also pales in comparison to Bill Clinton’s nine-figure speaking windfall.


Left-wing reporter Lee Fang makes a sensible observation:
On a related note, NBC is owned by Comcast, a company that has effectively bought the Democratic Party, and is currently awaiting the Obama administration’s approval for its proposed acquisition of Time Warner Cable—a move that would create the largest cable conglomerate in the country.

Maybe the fact that Chelsea Clinton got paid $600,000 to conduct fake interviews with animated lizards is an example of influence peddling. Or maybe it shows a disconcerting aversion to capitalism. While her parents are struggling to become billionaires, Chelsea is barely scraping by on six-figures. That’s not very American.

Financial disclosure forms reveal the Clinton's earned a hefty $12M in the year following their exit from the White House. According to 2000 financial forms, they left the White House in some level of debt: the Clinton's held assets ranging from $780K and $1.8M along with liabilities in the range of $2.3M to $10.5M.

"But as the outgoing first couple, they had tremendous earning potential. And within just one year, their financial troubles were effectively gone."

The tune changed quickly in 2001 for the political couple, when disclosure forms show they earned $12M from Bill's speeches and Hillary's book advance. Also of note was that Bill was earning a $150K pension and Hillary entered the senate with a $145K salary.

All told, their financial snapshot in 2001 was drastically different than when they left the White House -- assets were listed at between $6 million and $30 million; liabilities were between $1.3 million and $5.6 million.;And despite their financial issues, they got help from family friend and fundraiser Terry McAuliffe (now, the governor of Virginia) to secure a loan at the time for a $1.7 million home in Chappaqua, N.Y.

Earlier this week, Hillary Clinton tried to "walk balk" her comments, "fully appreciate how hard life is for so many Americans." She acknowledged to ABC's "Good Morning America" that "we've continued to be blessed in the last 14 years."
