Ron Paul Wins Texas Presidential Straw Poll

12-term Congressman from the Lone Star State bests rivals in Tea Party-organized survey

    LAKE JACKSON, Texas
    – 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul defeated his rivals for the GOP nomination in a straw poll conducted by tea party groups in his home state.

The ‘Saddle Up Texas Straw Poll’ featured in-person paper-ballot voting in Houston as well as a text-in vote.

Paul took first place with 27.9 percent of the 707 in-person paper votes tallied, besting his GOP competitors – including incumbent Texas Governor Rick Perry, who placed fourth earning just 19.4 percent. Newt Gingrich with 23.8 percent, Rick Santorum with 21.2 percent, Mitt Romney with 6.6 percent, and Jon Huntsman with 1.1 percent came in second, third, fifth, and sixth place, respectively.

Paul easily won the majority of the more than 3,300 text-in votes with more than 54 percent of votes cast.

“This straw poll was a tea party event. Its result is further evidence of the tea party and conservatives nationwide coalescing behind one candidate, Ron Paul, as the one true challenger and conservative alternative to Mitt Romney,” said Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton. “Ron Paul is the only candidate who can defeat Obama by energizing Republicans, tea partiers, independents, and disaffected Democrats.”

Complete results for both voting methods follows.

    In-person voting results
    Ron Paul 27.9%
    Newt Gingrich 23.8%
    Rick Santorum 21.2%
    Rick Perry 19.4%
    Mitt Romney 6.6%
    Jon Huntsman 1.1%

    Text-in voting results
    Ron Paul 54.4%
    Rick Santorum 15.6%
    Rick Perry 13.3%
    Newt Gingrich 11.9%
    Mitt Romney 4.2%
    Jon Huntsman 0.5%

Ron Paul Super PAC Calls for Removal of Dana Bash

Revolution PAC condemns bias of top CNN Political Corespondent.

Manchester, NH | January 10, 2012 | On-air comments made by CNN Senior Congressional Correspondent Dana Bash January 2 are being flagged by Revolution PAC for strong personal bias. In the statements, made on the eve of the Iowa Caucuses on “John King USA,” Bash noted her concern about the success of one particular Republican presidential candidate, U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, who is currently polling in strong second position in the Granite State.

“I’m sure you talk to Republicans who are worried as well, just like I am,” Bash offered from New Hampshire, “that Ron Paul will continue on long into the spring and summer … He could really hurt whomever the Republican nominee is because, still, nobody thinks, even if he does well here in New Hampshire, that he will ultimately be the nominee.”

“In America, voters rely on the media to provide objective reporting,” says Revolution PAC Chair Gary Franchi. “Editorializing like this obviously influences public perception and has no place in a hard newscast.”

“Dana Bash’s statements are particularly disturbing,” Franchi continues, “because they fly in the face of established facts. General election polling consistently that Ron Paul – because of his unmatched appeal to independent and disaffected democrat voters – is the only viable candidate against Barack Obama.”

Franchi concludes, “It is clear, when the Paul Camp has to end interviews early with her, that Dana Bash is tainting coverage of this election and deserves a reassignment, call CNN right now at 404-827-1500 and demand it.”

Takes strong second in New Hampshire, reports Revolution PAC

MANCHESTER, NH – January 10, 2012 – U.S. Rep. Ron Paul tripled his 2008 finish Tuesday, capturing a strong second in the New Hampshire Primary, reports Revolution PAC. Exit polls showed voters prioritizing moral character and true conservative positions, as well as independent-leaning voters, selected Rep. Paul over his rivals.
“As Rep. Paul stated in his victory speech tonight,” noted Revolution PAC Chair Gary Franchi, “his campaign is about presenting a real challenge to the status quo. He continues to show a strong and necessary crossover appeal with independents and disaffected democrats. We congratulate Congressman Paul on his outstanding success in New Hampshire.”

Rep. Paul stood at 23 percent of the vote with more than 90 percent of precincts reporting.

As candidates prepare for the South Carolina Primary January 21, polls continue to show that only Paul and Mitt Romney can prevail over incumbent Barack Obama. In a head-to-head matchup with Obama, independent voters prefer Paul, a CBS News poll suggested on Monday. A total of 47 percent of independent voters said they would choose Ron Paul compared to 45 percent of independent voters choosing Romney against Obama.

Reinforcing what is shaping up as a two-man race, Paul and Romney are the only Republican candidates who have successfully secured positions on the primary ballots of every state, reported South Carolina’s The State newspaper Tuesday.

Results of the latest American Research Group poll show that U.S. Rep. Ron Paul has gained the most in South Carolina following his strong second place showing in New Hampshire. Rep. Paul has jumped to 20% and third place in the Palmetto State, leading among self-identified independents and Democrats with 29% and capturing 18% of Republicans. Rick Santorum has reportedly declined dramatically in the same period, from 24% to 9%.

News of Rep. Paul’s South Carolina surge mirrors his climb in national polls. The latest Reuters/Ipsos poll, released prior to Tuesday’s New Hampshire Primary, shows Rep. Paul climbing 5 percentage points, to 17%.

Paul is now tied with Newt Gingrich, who has declined 8% in that poll, for second place at the national level among Republicans and independents.

National Poll Shows Paul as Only Other Candidate who can Beat Obama

    January 10, 2012
By: J.A. Pitcher, RevPAC Staff Writer

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire – A new national survey conducted by CBS News indicates that other than Mitt Romney, Ron Paul is the only other Republican candidate capable of besting incumbent President Obama during this fall’s General Election. The survey, which contains completed responses from 1,247 registered voters and has a margin of error of 2.78%, was released late Monday by CBS.The survey continues to illustrate Ron Paul’s secret weapon that sends establishment insiders into fits: his unshakable and growing appeal across party and ideological lines giving him by far the strongest showing amongst disaffected Democrats and Independent voters, which will be key following the convention. The release by CBS comes following a massive firestorm against the network, which earlier had omitted any mention of Ron Paul during a discussion of the Suffolk University survey of New Hampshire voters. According to the Suffolk University survey, Ron Paul was pulling in 20%, but CBS chose to use a graphic devoid of this fact, and instead only included Romney (43%) followed by Gingrich (9%), Huntsman (7%), and Santorum (6%).
