The Next US President Will Be....

....the Fortune 500. Why no matter who you vote for, nothing will ever change.

    Tony Cartalucci, Contributor

President George Bush, President Barack Obama, and presidential hopeful Mitt Romney all work for the exact same handful of corporate-financier interests. While they vary in how they dress up their methods of carrying out what is essentially a singular agenda, there is glaring continuity from one administration to the next in a process analogous to a corporate spokesman presenting the agenda of the board of directors. Changing spokesmen doesn't change the agenda of the board of directors.

While the corporate media focuses on non-issues, and political pundits accentuate petty political rivalries between the "left" and the "right," a look deeper into presidential cabinets and the authors of domestic and foreign policy reveals just how accurate this analogy is and who sits on the "board of directors."

Image: Professional spokesmen and representatives of Fortune 500 multinational corporations and banks. Since the time of JP Morgan 100 years ago, the corporate-financier elite saw themselves as being above government, and national sovereignty as merely a regulatory obstacle they could lobby, bribe, and manipulate out of existence. In the past 100 years, the monied elite have gone from manipulating the presidency to now reducing the office to a public relations functionary of their collective interests.

George Bush's cabinet consisted of representatives from FedEx, Boeing, the Council on Foreign Relations, big-oil's Belfer Center at Harvard, the Center for Strategic and International
Studies (CSIS), Circuit City, Verizon, Cerberus Capital Management, Goldman Sachs, and the RAND Corporation, among many others.

Image: The Henry Jackson Society is just one of many Neo-Conservative think-tanks, featuring many of the same people and of course, the same corporate sponsors. Each think-tank puts on a different public face and focuses on different areas of specialty despite harboring the same "experts" and corporate sponsors.

His foreign policy was overtly dictated by "Neo-Conservatives" including Richard Perle, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Jeane Kirkpatrick, Paul Wolfowitz, James Woolsey, Richard Armitage, Zalmay Khalilzad, Elliot Abrams, Frank Gaffney, Eliot Cohen, John Bolton, Robert Kagan, Francis Fukuyama, William Kristol, and Max Boot - all of whom hold memberships within a myriad of Fortune 500-funded think-tanks that to this day still direct US foreign policy - even under a "liberal" president. These
include the Brookings Institution, the International Crisis Group, the Foreign Policy Initiative, the Henry Jackson Society, the Council on Foreign Relations, and many more.

Image: A visual representation of some of the Brookings Institution's corporate sponsors. Brookings is by no means an exception, but rather represents the incestuous relationship between US foreign and domestic policy making and the Fortune 500 found in every major "think-tank." Elected US representatives charged with legislative duties, merely rubber stamp the papers and policies drawn up in these think-tanks.

Obama's cabinet likewise features representatives from JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, the Council on Foreign Relations, Fortune 500 representatives Covington & Burling, Citigroup, Freddie Mac, and defense contractor Honeywell. Like Bush's cabinet, foreign policy is not penned by Obama sitting behind his desk in the Oval Office, but rather by the very same think-tanks that directed Bush's presidency including the Council on Foreign Relations, RAND Corporation, the Brookings Institution, the International Crisis Group, and the Chatham House. There are also a myriad of smaller groups consisting of many of the same members and corporate sponsors, but who specialize in certain areas of interest.

Image: A visual representation of current US President Barack Obama's cabinet's corporate-financier ties past and present. As can be plainly seen, many of the same corporate-financier interests represented in Obama's administration were also represented in Bush's administration.

And with Mitt Romney, the likely Republican candidate running for president against Obama in 2012, we see already his foreign policy advisers, Michael Chertoff, Eliot Cohen, Paula Dobrainsky, Eric Edelman, and Robert Kagan, represent the exact same people and corporate-funded think-tanks devising strategy under both President Bush and President Obama.

While Presidents Bush and Obama attempted to portray the West's global military expansion as a series of spontaneous crises, in reality, since at least as early as 1991, the nations of Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Sudan, Somalia, and many others that previously fell under the Soviet Union's sphere of influence, were slated either for political destabilization and overthrow, or overt military intervention. While the public was fed various narratives explaining why Bush conducted two wars within the greater global "War on Terror," and why Obama eagerly expanded these wars while starting new ones in Libya and now Syria, in reality we are seeing "continuity of agenda," dictated by corporate-financier elite, rubber stamped by our elected representatives, and peddled to us by our "leaders," who in reality are nothing more than spokesmen for the collective interests of the Fortune 500.

Image: The International Crisis Group's corporate sponsors reveal a pattern of mega-multinationals intertwined with not only creating and directing US, and even European foreign policy, but in carrying it out. ICG trustee Kofi Annan is in Syria now carrying out a ploy to buy time for NATO-backed terrorists so they can be rearmed, reorganized, and redeployed against the Syrian government for another Western-backed attempt at regime change - all done under the guise of promoting "peace."

No matter who you vote for in 2012 - until we change the balance of power currently tipped in favor of the Fortune 500, fed daily by our money, time, energy, and attention, nothing will change but the rhetoric with which this singular agenda is sold to the public. Romney would continue exactly where Obama left off, just as Obama continued exactly where Bush left off. And even during the presidencies of Bill Clinton and Bush Sr., it was the same agenda meted out by the same corporate-financier interests that have been driving American, and increasingly Western destiny, since US Marine General Smedley Butler wrote "War is a Racket" in 1935.

A clear pattern should be apparent. The influence of corporate-financiers transcends more than presidencies, but contaminates all aspects of modern society including what is often called "non-governmental organizations" or NGOs. Modern NGOs are entirely funded and centrally directed by Fortune 500 corporations to carry their neo-imperial agenda to the four corners of the globe under the guise of the very best of intentions. The National Endowment for Democracy (NED), for instance, portends to be "supporting freedom around the world." A quick look at their board of directors reveals they are in fact drawn from big-oil, big-banking, and defense contracting boards of directors, Neo-Conservative warmongering think-tanks, corporate lobbyists, and US State Department functionaries, past and present.

Image: A visual representation of the National Endowment for Democracy's corporate-financier ties. It is not freedom they are interested in "supporting around the world," but rather the interests of the corporations and institutions their board of directors represents.

NED was central in funding, training, and directing mobs of protesters across the Arab World during the 2011 US-engineered "Arab Spring," only to see US proxies put into power where these mobs successfully toppled governments or led to violence and foreign military intervention that successfully implemented regime change. Tunisia and Libya both have overt, long-time associates of the West now in power, while similar proxies are fighting to take power in Egypt as well as battling for control over Syria. It then becomes obvious that it is not "freedom" NED is supporting worldwide, but rather the corporate-financier hegemony of the Fortune 500.

Image: NED, Freedom House, and the US State Department don't just reflect the interests of the Fortune 500, they actively carry them out, many times using the resources and reach of these very interests to implement global policy. The Alliance for Youth Movements (AYM) starting in 2008 began recruiting, networking, training, funding, and equipping armies of "activists" from around the world to prepare for the "spontaneous" Arab Spring in 2011.

And the very shell organizations created to train NED's mobs, including the US State Department's Alliance for Youth Movements (AYM), was likewise funded by a myriad of Fortune 500 corporate-financier interests and attended and directed by representatives of these corporate interests.

The various business councils within the US Chamber of Commerce are also directed by the very same corporate interests directing both the US Presidency and carrying out their agenda through US-funded organizations like NED. The US-Qatar Business Council is one such example, whose representatives sit on the Washington D.C. based Middle East Policy Council alongside the UN's Karen Koning AbuZayd. AbuZayd was charged with compiling human rights reports in regards to Syria. Clearly she is the subject of a gross conflict of interests exposing yet again how US and even Western policy is not directed by presidents, prime ministers, or legislative branches, but rather by cadres of corporate-financiers and their representatives who have infiltrated every institution in Western society and even contrived a few of their own to perpetuate their agenda.

While there are a number of reasons to vote - including to simply write in the names of candidates to show dissatisfaction with the predetermined choices presented before us - we must recognize that voting alone will not change anything. And as the Occupy Wall Street movement has taught us, while our leaders demand nations like Libya and Syria allow their people to roam the streets armed and terrorizing the population, they have no intention of allowing even peaceful protests to take place back at home.

The solution is to identify and undermine the very source of power driving these world-spanning corporate-financier interests. One needs not travel further in search of this source of power than their own bathroom mirror. It is we the people, who on a daily basis, feed this monolithic corporate-financier machine of domination, exploitation, and destruction. And we need not do more than simply withdraw the time, money, energy, and attention we pay into this machine on a daily basis. We can begin by eliminating from our lives entirely the unnecessary amenities we purchase from this machine. This includes junk-food like that peddled by Pepsi Co., Coca-Cola, and the mega-chain restaurants, cafes, and fast food outlets spanning the world.

We can then begin devising local alternatives to replace these amenities, and eventually the necessities. We need not live a life of austerity or of want in the wake of deciding to boycott entirely the Fortune 500. We can leverage education, technology, and ingenuity to devise alternatives that not only match, but exceed the quality and comfort provided to us by these mega-multinationals.

While the system wants you to vote in their elections, you would be better served to instead vote with your wallet, time, energy, and attention. Don't be drawn into the establishment's circular debates, distractions, and especially the charade of predetermined elections. Regardless of who wins, Obama or Romney, the Fortune 500 will have a professional spokesman to present their collective agenda to the public under the guise of "democracy." America, and the West in general, is run by the Fortune 500, they are were your last president or prime minister, they will be your next president or prime minister.

If this dissatisfies you - boycott them and put them out of business.

I suggest you wake up America... there will be few chances left and fewer politicians with the will to fix these wacko policies of Obama and Bush

look at these Politicians running for POTUS and guess which one will open those FEMA Camps .. it will NOT be a politician that follows the constitution

The Phony Right-Wing, Part 3: Willard ‘Mitt’ Romney

“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism.
But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment
of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation,
    without knowing how it happened.”
    - Norman Thomas ( 1884-1968 ) six time U.S. Presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America. Norman Thomas and Gus Hall, the U.S. Communist Party Candidates, both quit American politics, agreeing that the Republican and Democratic parties had adopted every plank of the Communist/Socialist party and they no longer had an alternate party platform on which to run.

Willard Mitt Romney was born in 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to former Governor of Michigan, George W. Romney and his wife, Lenore Romney. He was raised in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and attended Brigham Young University.

When Willard was a sophomore in high school he participated in the campaign for his father’s first term as Governor of Michigan. CFR member George Romney was reelected twice and Mitt even worked for him as an intern. He went to the 1964 Republican National Convention when his moderate father battled conservative Barry Goldwater for the party nomination over issues of civil rights and ideological extremism. The family ended up supporting Lyndon Baines Johnson for president.

Willard got his Juris Doctor/Master of Business Administration degrees from Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School. In 1966, Mitt left for France as a Mormon missionary which is a traditional duty of sons of Mormons. This was the first time Mitt was living a life of deprivation. With the rules of no drinking or smoking, he failed to gain many converts in France. The French Catholics are wine loving people and prove especially resistant to a religion that prohibits alcohol. His missionary years were not the best esteem builders, yet he still holds a great fondness for France.

Romney entered into management consulting and had a position at Bain and Company. He eventually served as its CEO and led it out of a financial crisis. He was the founder too of a spinoff company Bain Capital, a profitable equity investment firm. He had an excellent record of success with clients like Monsanto Company, Burlington Industries, and Corning Incorporated. Of course Monsanto is responsible for the majority of genetically modified organism (GMO) seeds and foods in our nation today.

He won the election for Governor of Massachusetts in 2002, but only served one term.

The state was in financial peril and had a projected $3 billion shortfall. The reason it was in peril is like all states, the politicians overspend and then expect the taxpayers to make up the difference. Unexpected revenue came in from a previously enacted capital gains tax increase and $500 million in federal grants which decreased the deficit to $1.2 to 1.5 billion. Through some budget manipulating and cuts in state aid to cities and towns, and major cuts to universities which increased the tuition by 63% over four years, as well as his vetoing many items, although all were overridden by the Democrat majority legislature, he managed to bring in more to the Massachusetts treasury. What Romney really did to fix the budget was what most Governors, both left and right do. They raise taxes on the people of the state. He raised fees for marriage, driver’s, and gun licenses. He increased the state gasoline fee by 2 cents per gallon and he closed tax loopholes that caused businesses to pay more taxes. This brought in $541 million to the coffers, but created financial hardships on businesses in Massachusetts.

    Romney Care

    London hospital ward, Daily Mail

Of course this all didn’t last long with the adoption of the socialist universal health care mandate Willard gave Massachusetts. He promised it wouldn’t raise taxes, but incorporated a new payroll tax. He also pushed for incorporating an individual mandate at the state level. His past rival Ted Kennedy (he ran against Kennedy for Senator in 1994) who had pushed universal health coverage for years became a close friend of Romney’s and helped push the state’s Democrats into voting for it along with the Republicans.

With Romney Care all residents of the state are required to buy health insurance or face escalating tax penalties such as the loss of their personal income tax exemptions. This is, in effect a tax on their very existence in the state of Massachusetts! The most draconian sections of the bill that would put burdens on businesses were vetoed by Romney, but the Democrat legislature overrode them all.

Romney Care also finances abortion with a $50 dollar co-pay. This entire bill was endorsed by Marxists Hillary Clinton, Teddy Kennedy. and of course Planned Parenthood who has now helped murder 56 million American babies in the womb with the help of plans like Romney Care.

At the same time Massachusetts also created a new state entitlement that was already trembling on the verge of bankruptcy inside of a year. It is called Commonwealth Care, it uses a sliding income scale to subsidize coverage for everyone under 300% of the federal poverty level, or about $63,000 for a family of four. In 2008, the year’s appropriation for Commonwealth Care was $472 million, but officials have asked for an add-on that will bring it to $625 million. For 2009, Governor Deval Patrick requested $869 million but conceded that even that huge figure is too low. Over the coming decade, the expected overruns float in as much as $4 billion over budget. So, despite Romney’s getting the state out of the red with new fees and taxes, he turned around and gave the state a huge new bureaucracy that now has it near bankruptcy.
    Romney on Abortion

1994 – Romney stated, “I believe abortion should be safe and legal in this country. at boston.com
2001 - While campaigning in Utah, Romney said, “I am not pro-choice.” at observer.com
2002 – While in Massachusetts, Romney quipped, “I will preserve and protect a woman’s right to choose. at boston.com
    2004 - Romney again magically became pro-life. at time.com
2005 – Once again in liberal Massachusetts, Romney spoke these words, “I am actually committed to my promise to maintain the status quo with regards to laws related to abortion and choice. He even exempted Catholic and Christian hospitals from refusing the morning-after pill in case of rape. at boston.com

Not only does Romney not advocate a ban on embryonic research, he actually supports government funding for the lethal use of the tiniest children for research, demonstrating the falsity of both his conversion and his account of it. And yet many pro-family “leaders” have chosen to ignore the truth, and believe lies. at boston.com

Now on the campaign trail again, he’s saying he’s pro-life, but let’s look at his record.

    After
he claimed a pro-life conversion, Willard Mitt Romney

    • authorized tax-funded surgical elective abortion two years after he claimed he was pro-life. at boston.com
    • advocated grisly research on embryos after he claimed a pro-life conversion.
    • nominated a pro-abort Democrat judge after he claimed a pro-life conversiongave Planned Parenthood a permanent seat on a state board after he claimed a pro-life conversion.
    • bragged that he would continue to defend abortion “rights” after he claimed a pro-life conversion.

His record is absolutely shocking and in another campaign speech he stated he is personally pro-life, but doesn’t want to push his personal religious beliefs on society. So, society’s cultural decline and the murder of 56 million innocent babies shouldn’t have any commentary from the religious sidelines?

To top it off, the Pro-Life Family Movement discredits themselves again and again.

Many conservatives repeat his false claim of being pro-life including Ann Coulter, saying “Romney governed as a pro-lifer.” Jordan Sekulow through his father’s organization, ACLJ (American Center for Law and Justice) wrote, “Governor Romney would and still could make a great candidate.” Jay Sekulow is a CNP member. Tony Perkins (CNP) at the Family Research Council says Romney is, “solidly conservative across the board,” and a Focus Action Candidate Commentary video from Focus on the Family(CNP) shockingly agrees with Romney that, “on the social issues we are so similar.” Remember, these groups are members of the secretive Council for National Policy and nearly all are UN-NGO’s. As UN-non governmental organizations, they must agree with the planks of the Marxist UN to get NGO status.

These groups and people say all this of a man who:

    • funded abortion statewide through taxpayer monies
    • opposed a Massachusetts Defense of Marriage Constitutional amendment
    • said homosexuals should be allowed in the boy scouts
    • officially celebrated “Gay-Straight Youth Pride Day”
    • sat on the board of directors for a leading purveyor of pornography without opposing the corporation’s exploitation of women
    • instituted homosexual marriage
    • was ahead of Barack Obama in promoting government controlled health care.

Willard Mitt Romney states, “On every piece of legislation, I came down on the side of life.”

    Gay Rights and Marriage

When Romney ran against Ted Kennedy for Senator in 1994, he wrote a letter to the Log Cabin Republicans stating, “We must make equality for gays and lesbians a mainstream concern.” Romney also stated in 2002 that “All citizens deserve equal rights, regardless of their sexual orientation.” Willard said that domestic partnership status should be recognized in a way that includes the potential for health benefits and rights of survivorship. Most companies today give health benefits to homosexual partners. One of the first was the conservative company of Colorado, Coors Beer while their backyard neighbor and fellow Council for National Policy member James Dobson of Focus on the Family railed against one of the airlines for giving health benefits to homosexual partners.

Romney also supported hate crimes legislation during his campaign for governor. In 2002, Romney also opposed a Massachusetts constitutional amendment that would have banned same-sex marriage and domestic partnerships because the amendment would have prohibited domestic partnership benefits for gays and lesbians.

    • supported Bill Clinton’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” and thinks it worked and shouldn’t be changed.
    • boosted funding for homosexual “education” starting in kindergarten at massresistance.org
    • opposes a ban on homosexual scoutmasters at boston.com
    • forced Catholic Charities, the nation’s #1 adoption and foster care service to place children with same sex couples even though he was under no legal obligation to do so.
    • passed over Republican lawyers for three quarters of the 36 judicial vacancies he faced and nominated two open homosexuals. at boston.com
    • supports passage at the state level of the Employment non-discrimination Act which would force churches and other religious organizations to hire homosexuals and transvestites or face criminal fines and prosecution.

Global Warming/Climate Change and Cap and Trade

On CBS with Katy Couric in February, 2009, Romney said this, “I think the risks of climate change are real. And that you’re seeing real climate change. And I think human activity is contributing to it. I would develop within this country sources of energy which would allow us to be free of foreign oil. But sources that don’t emit CO2.” at cbsnews.com

“I believe the world is getting warmer, and I believe that humans have contributed to that,” he told a crowd of about 200 at a town hall meeting in Manchester, New Hampshire.” at reuters.com

Romney supports regulation of greenhouse gas emissions, primarily through voluntary measure. He would eliminate “dirty” coal power plants even at the cost of losing jobs because he believes coal plants kill people.
    Illegal Aliens and Amnesty

Although Romney says he’s against amnesty for illegal aliens, he also says, “I don’t believe in rounding up 11 million people and forcing them at gunpoint from our country.” (Willard, it’s probably more like 40 or 50 million people here illegally and according to FBI statistics they murder 25 American citizens per day!) Willard says he would like to see illegal immigrants register with the government, pay taxes, and apply for citizenship. What? How about entering the country the way all our ancestors did? How about coming into this country legally? Does Willard have any idea of how many “other types” are crossing the border so easily?
    Education

Romney supported the infamous, No Child Left Behind, as well as the federal government’s involvement in education. See Char Iserbyt’s article on same at newswithviews.com. He approved efforts in Massachusetts to require parents in poorly performing schools to attend parental education classes. He also is for Charter Schools. See education expert, Char Iserbyt’s article on Charter Schools at newswithviews.com.
    Second Amendment

Willard Romney has stated in past campaigns that he is a proponent of gun control and fully supports a ban on assault weapons. He enacted a ban in Massachusetts on many so called “military style assault weapons.” Romney stated, “These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense. They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people.” Sorry Willard, but you don’t know squat about firearms, nor do you understand that the second amendment is the very teeth of the Bill of Rights. And you don’t even own a gun!

In 1994, Willard also supported the Brady Bill. The Center for Handgun Violence which is Sarah Brady’s organization, is responsible for countless lawsuits against manufacturers and various state firearm laws. They are rabid anti-gunners, as obviously is Willard Mitt Romney.
    Sustainable Development and Agenda 21

In 2004, as part of Willard’s goal to adopt a strategic approach to “land protection” in Massachusetts, he launched a plan to help cities and towns adopt “smart growth” policies that foster “sustainable development.” He stated that he wanted a more coordinated approach to “land conservation,” involving housing, environmental and transportation agencies.

As I mentioned in my previous article on Newt Gingrich, federal or state land grabs under the guise of sustainability are wholly unconstitutional. However, once again, elimination of land by the federal or state governments when it belongs to the people, is fully a plank of the communist manifesto.
    Conclusions

Obviously Willard Mitt Romney is no conservative. His stances on issues are tainted with communist tenets, and I’ve only covered a few of them. Why then do people who claim to be “conservatives” and “Christians,” like Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Ann Coulter, Hugh Hewitt, Mark DeMoss, Richard Land, Stu Epperson, Jay Sekulow, Jim Dobson, Tom Minnery, and Tony Perkins, claim that he’s a conservative?

Sadly, we are dealing with many false friends of the constitution and what I call “controlled” opposition to the communist agenda.

Mitt Romney is more like his fellow Mormon, Harry Reid rather than the famous conservative Mormon, Glenn Beck. Of course Beck backed Willard for President and I would guess he backed him because they are both Mormons, just like many of the black electorate voted for Obama because he was the first so-called black American president.

The above facts regarding Romney’s platforms change depending upon which group he is speaking to and whether they’re liberal or conservative. However, his actions in Massachusetts as governor speak volumes about what Romney really stands for and it’s certainly not the constitution…more like the communist agenda.

His religion is difficult inasmuch as his great-grandparents were polygamists, and up until the 1960s the Mormon church disallowed black Americans in their membership in wards, stakes, or meeting houses, much less the Temple. The mere fact that Willard believes that when he dies he’ll ascend to becoming a god like Jehovah who will rule over a world like ours is enough to reject him as presidential fodder. Yes, I’ve known some wonderful Mormons in my life, but don’t bother to write and tell me this isn’t true or tell me all about Mormons. In my impetuous and misspent youth I was married to a Mormon.

We’ve many other candidates, many with far less communist tenets than Newt or Willard, but none that are really solid true constitutionalists. We’ll discuss them in the next article.

Proverbs 12:20 – Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counselors of peace is joy.

I posted the following on Romneys wall and they pull it within a minute, lol (heck Mitt, the pool aint THAT BAD, lol). "I dont know why people think Mitt Romney is so out of touch with the working man, I mean just last week when I was renovating my 12 million dollar oceanfront vacation property...BAHAHAHA!

"Right smack in the midst of campaigning and fund-raising, former Massachusetts governor and Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney has added something else to his plate: a complete renovation of his $12 million vacation home in La Jolla, CA. They will go from 3,009 sq ft to 11,000 sq ft. Why? "It is inadequate for their needs". I sure hope they do something with that eyesore of a lap pool".

Washington D.C. – Marco Rubio says he wants his version of the DREAM Act in effect by fall, just in time for undocumented students to be able to attend college fall semester.

Rubio, in two separate events in Washington D.C., said his plan is still being hammered out, and important details – such as the minimum and maximum age of those who would qualify – were yet to be determined.

“We’re involving the DREAMers” in the drafting of the measure, he said, using the term that refers to undocumented youth brought to the country by their parents. “We’re involving the kids themselves.”

Asked by a reporter when it will be introduced in the Senate, Rubio said: “When it’s ready. It won’t be next week.”

He said he hopes it gets introduced by summer and passed by fall.

“There are a bunch of kids. . .who want to go to school this fall,” Rubio said at an appearance at the Newseum in Washington, D.C.. “I’m also cognizant that this is an election year,” he added, saying it wouldn’t be easy to get bi-partisan support as the parties vie for elective offices.

Indeed, several Democrats in Congress say they will not back a plan that does not offer a path to citizenship.

Charles A. González, chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, said in a press statement: "If the Rubio Plan bars citizenship it would be the first time in modern history that someone has proposed a law that would permanently prohibit citizenship to one segment of American society."

"Earning citizenship is essential because mere legal residency will serve only as a life sentence to being relegated to an underclass status. It is against the values of our country to ask DREAMers to work hard, pay taxes and sacrifice their lives for our country, but deny them citizenship."

The number of undocumented youth who would benefit from the DREAM Act has been estimated at between 1 million and 2 million. An estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants live in the United States.

Rubio said at different events throughout Thursday in the nation's capital that criticism about his plan creating "a permanent underclass" was "not true."
The senator said that critics who dismiss his plan before it is even finalized are just interested in keeping the inability of undocumented youth to attend college "a political wedge issue," and are not really serious about finding a bipartisan solution.

"The general concept is that [students] would receive the equivalent of a non-immigrant visa, it legitimizes you," he said of his alternate DREAM Act proposal. "It doesn't allow you to to become a resident or citizen, however it doesn't prohibit you from applying."

"There's no limbo" that the students will be stuck in under his plan, he said. "The limbo is what they're in now."

Rubio often invoked the name of Daniela Peláez, a Florida high school student who is graduating as valedictorian and has been accepted to some of the nation’s top schools, but who was facing deportation (she won a two-year reprieve recently).

He said youth like Daniela should be allowed to obtain a non-immigrant visa, which would allow them to study, work, and get a driver’s license, but not grant them permanent residency. Perhaps, Rubio said, they could obtain visas that last five, or ten years, and maybe they’d be able to renew them.

"Daniela has been raised here her whole life," Rubio said. "She grew up in our public schools, did everything her parents asked of her, everything her teachers asked of her."

If they want to stay in the United States, they would have to apply like everyone else around the world, he said, and wait their turn, possibly back in their homeland. Rubio's plan also would not call on states to charge in-state tuition rates to undocumented students -- now many of them are charged out-of-state tuition, which can be twice as high -- nor would it give them access to financial aid.

“We want to make sure we don’t do anything that rewards illegal immigration,” he said.

A Fox News Latino poll this year showed that nearly 90 percent of the more than 1,000 Latino likely voters surveyed nationwide support the DREAM Act, which would allow undocumented immigrants brought to the country as minors to legalize their status if they attend college or serve in the military, among other things.

The Hispanic Leadership Network, which describes itself as a "centrist-right" organization, commissioned a survey on voters' attitudes about Rubio's alternative to a DREAM Act and reports that 83-12 percent of respondents support "allowing children of undocumented immigrants who have been here for years to obtain legal residency status after their honorable discharge from service in the U.S. military."

HLN says its survey also showed that by 67 to 29 percent, American voters support "allowing children of undocumented immigrants who have been here for years to obtain legal residency status if they graduate from college."
The general concept is that [students] would receive the equivalent of a non-immigrant visa, it legitimizes you. . .It doesn't allow you to to become a resident or citizen, however it doesn't prohibit you from applying.

After the Newseum event, Rubio met with a small group of selected Hispanic reporters that was aimed at sending a message directly to Latinos – a group that remains divided about the junior senator, but who many high-ranking Republicans increasingly see as a vital to a victory in the November presidential elections.

Rubio is often mentioned as one of the candidates on a short list for the GOP vice presidential slot.

Like most others over the years who are rumored to be contenders for vice president, Rubio has said he is not seeking to be the running mate of the GOP presidential nominee, who is likely to be former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

But that does not stop the talk about Vice President Rubio.

Earlier this year, Newt Gingrich said that any of the candidates in the GOP presidential primary who did not seriously consider Rubio as a running mate must not really want to be president.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said Rubio would be an ideal vice presidential candidate, and his son Jeb Bush Jr. concurred, saying that Rubio would energize the party’s conservative base, which has been ambivalent about Romney.

But whether he is tapped – or not -- as a running mate by the GOP presidential nominee, Rubio arguably will have an influential role in the campaign as the party pursues a Florida victory and the support of Hispanic voters nationwide.

The GOP primary turned at times into a race to see which of the candidates had the most unyielding take-no-prisoners approach to illegal immigration, and candidates variously positioned themselves as being the most hard-line about border security, not giving undocumented immigrants a chance to legalize their status, and vowing to make English the nation’s official language.

Even while various polls have showed that most Hispanic likely voters report being more concerned about jobs, the economy and healthcare than about immigration, they can sour on a candidate who seems to be slamming Latinos when addressing immigration and English as the official language.

Hispanics number some 50 million in the United States, according to the 2010 Census; about 20 million are eligible to vote.

Though as a voting bloc, they tend to lean Democratic when they cast their ballots, they have not hesitated to support a Republican whose message and views resonate with them. Some 44 percent of Latino voters in 2004 supported George Bush, who pushed for comprehensive immigration reform that would have included an expanded guest worker program and a path to legalization for certain undocumented immigrants.

Some have questioned whether Rubio's GOP DREAM effort is politically motivated; he denied that it is on Thursday.

He acknowledged that Republicans must make greater strides to repair their image among Hispanics, but said his DREAM Act idea was not an election-year ploy.

During GOP primary debates, Romney flatly said that as president, he would veto the DREAM Act that has been proposed in Congress.

But Rubio said Romney has indicated that he would be open to considering a conservative alternative such as the one the Florida senator is developing.

Shortly after Rubio concluded his meeting with reporters, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and undocumented students – or “DREAMers,” as they’re called -- announced the launch of a voting campaign called “Su Voz, Mi Voto,” or “Their Voice, My Vote.”

The campaign, according to a press release by the caucus, aims to urge Latinos to keep in mind that their vote in November “will be the voice for their undocumented friends, family members and classmates,” as a caucus press release put it.

Those who favor strict immigration enforcement oppose the DREAM Act, and other proposals that give the undocumented a pathway to legalization, saying that such measures reward lawbreakers and would only encourage more illegal immigration.

During the GOP debates last fall, Romney assailed then-candidate Rick Perry, the Texas governor, for having a version of the DREAM Act in his state.
Rubio long had said he opposes the DREAM Act, because it would generate chain migration – where immigrants who have a green card or are naturalized citizens can then petition for family members overseas to gain legal permanent residency in the United States.

The DREAM Act passed in the House of Representatives in 2010, but not in the Senate.

Gingrich has said he supports allowing undocumented youth who, say, have served in the military to get conditional legal status, but not full citizenship.
"People of good will strongly disagree over many aspects of the immigration debate," said HLN Executive Director Jennifer S. Korn. "But allowing the children of undocumented immigrants who have grown up in America the opportunity to earn legal status with a work visa if they serve honorably in the military or graduate from college is one aspect of that debate that unites most Americans across party and racial lines."

Advocates for more lenient immigration policies said they welcome Rubio's efforts, but their praise was tempered.

"We welcome the renewed focus on immigration reform," said Ali Noorani, executive director of the National Immigration Forum. "It is clear both parties have realized fixing the immigration system is good policy and good politics."

"It's good to see Senator Rubio talking to the press about his ideas on reform. But, the time is near for Senator Rubio to introduce legislative language and define a path forward that secures necessary Republican votes."

Six Romney Family Members Hit Campaign Trail… For RON PAUL

Mitt “just doesn’t understand the constitution like Ron Paul.”

No less than six relatives of Presidential candidate Mitt Romney have joined the campaign trail in the race for the GOP nomination, but they’re not supporting the former Massachusetts governor, they’re campaigning for Texas Congressman Ron Paul.

Three of Romney’s relatives will even speak at Idaho caucus sites, declaring their support for Paul in a story that is sure to create a buzz around Paul’s campaign as he looks to pick up his first caucus win on Super Tuesday.

The Paul campaign issued a press release Monday introducing five Romney relatives, then issued another release shortly afterwards noting a sixth.

Travis Romney, Troy Romney and Chad Romney, all cousins of Mitt Romney, will speak before Ron Paul crowds in Idaho today. Ty Romney and Jared Romney, whose grandfathers are cousins of former Michigan Governor George Romney, the father of Mitt Romney, have also declared their support for Paul.

“I don’t dislike Mitt at all,” Chad Romney (pictured above) said. “He seems like a nice guy. He just doesn’t understand the constitution like Ron Paul.”

“It’s Ron Paul or bust,” Chad Romney added, “Now, a lot of people will ask me if I’m related,” he said. “And I always say: ‘Yes, I’m related, but I vote for Ron Paul.’ ”

When asked who he would vote for if the ticket turns out to be Romney vs Obama, Chad Romney said “I don’t know if I’d vote for either one of them. I’d just write Ron Paul in there.”

“I support Ron Paul because he defends the Constitution, loves America and understands what it means to be an American, including the right to live your life any way you want as long as you respect others,” said Travis Romney, a second cousin once removed from the former Massachusetts governor.

Ty Romney, an attorney in Montana added, “Ron Paul is honest. It’s time to take a stand for honesty. It doesn’t matter whether the truth is popular or not, I know that Ron Paul will always maintain a true principle and I endorse that degree of integrity.”

Paul’s campaign suggests that the endorsements show that the Congressman can win Mormon voters, noting that the Romneys are now members of the “Latter-day Saints for Ron Paul” nationwide coalition.

Paul previously received support from Rick Santorum’s nephew John Garver, who described his own uncle as a “big government”, “status quo” politician, while urging Americans to vote for Ron Paul.
