[South Texas:]Couple pleads guilty to smuggling illegal immigrants for prostitution
The Brownsville Herald ^ | September 11, 2009 | LAURA B. MARTINEZ

A Brownsville man, who called himself Don Juan, and his girlfriend have pleaded guilty to smuggling undocumented immigrants into the United States to prostitute them.
Juan Luis Coronado, 37, aka Juan Hernandez, and Lee Ann Zieger, aka as Lee Ann Motilla, 40, entered the guilty pleas Wednesday, the same day their trial was scheduled to begin.
Coronado pleaded guilty to one count of attempting to import a minor for prostitution purposes.
Zieger, also of Brownsville, pleaded guilty to two counts of harboring aliens for prostitution, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. The two will be sentenced Dec. 8.
Coronado remained in federal custody without bond. Zieger remained out of jail on a $75,000 bond pending sentencing.
The April arrests of Coronado and Zieger were the result of a seven-month, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigation in which special agents monitored the couple.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Coronado admitted to asking a prostitute who was working for him to smuggle a 14-year-old undocumented immigrant from Mexico to work for him as a prostitute. He made the request in October.
Coronado also admitted to smuggling and managing two other undocumented immigrants who worked as prostitutes, federal authorities said.
The women who worked as prostitutes were housed at a hotel in Brownsville, where Zieger worked as a manager, according to the U.S. Attorneys Office.
Angela Dodge, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, confirmed that the hotel is the Value Place hotel on Media Luna Road.
Authorities also said that Zieger allowed a room at the hotel to be used for prostitution purposes by giving Coronado a room key labeled "property manager,"
Dodge confirmed that Coronado and Zieger also took women to the South Padre Island to be prostituted at the annual SPI Bikefest held in October.
Zieger admitted to furnishing Coronado with the room, which she knew was being used to prostitute the undocumented immigrants and to picking up the prostitutes after they crossed the border from Mexico, federal authorities said.
Zieger and Coronado each face up to 10 years in federal prison and fines of up to $250,000 each, followed by three years of supervised release.

Americans Avoiding Mexico Like the Plague
[Brenda Walker] @ 12:03 pm [Email author]Â*[Email this article] Â*Â*[Print this article]
Mexico has gotten the rep as being such a dangerous place from all the narco-murders that even blotto-drunk college students are staying away. Texas party animals are heading south to Padre Island for spring break festivities, but hardly any will be venturing further.
Students there say the real madness would be to take the traditional 30-minute trip to the Mexican border for the popular “Two-Nation Vacation.â€

I would like to dedicate this song by Leonard Cohen, to Town of South Padre Island City Attorney Paul Cunningham & Town of South Padre Island Mayor Bob Pinkerton:
Everybody knows that the dice are loaded
Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed
Everybody knows that the war is over
Everybody knows the good guys lost
Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
That's how it goes
Everybody knows
Everybody knows that the boat is leaking
Everybody knows that the captain lied
Everybody got this broken feeling
Like their father or their dog just died
Everybody talking to their pockets
Everybody wants a box of chocolates
And a long stem rose
Everybody knows
Everybody knows that you love me baby
Everybody knows that you really do
Everybody knows that you've been faithful
Ah give or take a night or two
Everybody knows you've been discreet
But there were so many people you just had to meet
Without your clothes
And everybody knows
Everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows
Everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows
And everybody knows that it's now or never
Everybody knows that it's me or you
And everybody knows that you live forever
Ah when you've done a line or two
Everybody knows the deal is rotten
Old black joe's still pickin' cotton
For your ribbons and bows
And everybody knows
And everybody knows that the plague is coming
Everybody knows that it's moving fast
Everybody knows that the naked man and woman
Are just a shining artifact of the past
Everybody knows the scene is dead
But there's gonna be a meter on your bed
That will disclose
What everybody knows
And everybody knows that you're in trouble
Everybody knows what you've been through
From the bloody cross on top of calvary
To the beach of malibu
Everybody knows it's coming apart
Take one last look at this sacred heart
Before it blows
And everybody knows
Everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows
Oh everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows
Everybody knows

Mexican Cartels Lure American Teens as Killers
Published: June 22, 2009
On frequent trips to Mexico, he was also becoming involved with the Zetas, a family member said, speaking on the condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals from drug dealers. On trips home, Mr. Reta described killings in Mexico that he had witnessed and, in some cases, participated in. “He sounded so excited when he talked about all these things he was doing,â€

Is it just me, or does the majority of citizens in Cameron County seem asleep or collaboraters or Fanninites?
Where is our new San Jacinto?
They had remember Goliad--remember the Alamo!
We have "Remember San Jacinto--where corruption stumbled and democracy caught oppression with it's pants down."

South Padre Island, Cameron County, and Spring Break: Is Cocaine Uber Alles?
Some hotel reservations were canceled, retail sales fell and fewer people crossed the area’s international bridges when war broke out between the region’s dominant cartels in late February.
The economic consequences of Reynosa’s bloodshed is nothing compared to the human cost, but with now daily reports of gun battles in what was once a relatively quiet area of the border, the toll on the area’s economy could be substantial.
“Economically it is effecting us,â€
