I suppose it's possible President Trump either sent him or encouraged him to go.

So, we'll see what happens. I like the move of Kelly to Chief of Staff, lets see how Trump maximizes the opportunity that opens up. Heard today on the news that Trump doesn't need Senate approval to move Sessions to Secretary of DHS, and when he does that Sessions is good in that spot without further action for 210 days, then he can nominate him officially.
Sending Attorney General Sessions to DHS would be a big demotion and slap in the face. Sessions is doing a fine job where he is and doesn't deserve the further humiliation he would suffer through a demotion! The United States presidential line of succession ranks Attorney General 7th and Secretary of DHS 17th. Besides that, I doubt he would accept such a humiliation.

The whole story line on moving Sessions to DHS was apparently just some right wing theorist throwing an idea out there and had nothing to do with reality.
