MOUNT ANGEL, Ore. — Six people were stabbed early Sunday in Mount Angel in what police think is a gang-related incident.

At 1:58 a.m., Mount Angel police were called to a reported stabbing in the 200 block of Railroad Avenue, said Mount Angel Police Chief Brent Earhart. Officers found four victims in the middle of the road with stab wounds.

The suspects are still at large, Earhart said.

A medical helicopter flew one victim to Oregon Health & Science University hospital in Portland. Another was taken to Legacy Meridian Park Hospital in Tualatin, and two more were taken to Salem Hospital.

About an hour later, two more victims, also with stab wounds, walked into Silverton Hospital.

The names and conditions of the victims had not been released Sunday evening.

A description of the suspects and names of possible suspects could be available after a police briefing this morning.

"We're still in the process of interviewing witnesses," Earhart said.

Marion County Homicide Assault Response Team is bolstering the Mount Angel police force as the investigation continues. The team is composed of detectives and other law enforcement officers from throughout the county.

Glockenspiel Restaurant and Pub co-owner Henri Dill heard the news when an officer stopped by her restaurant Sunday.

She said she got upset because about 200 people had attended a block party in downtown Mount Angel on Tuesday during National Night Out, a day neighbors gather to show a willingness to work together against crime.

"This makes me very angry because there are so many people trying to do so much good," Dill said.
