Advice from those long gone
Nobody from 1776, 1850, 1900, 1950 would believe what is happening in our land today. It's had me worried, angry and saddened. I feel I live in an alternate universe where up is down and right is wrong. Our country is in danger but does anything I do about it matter?
In desperation I thought maybe a bit of peace of mind or some wisdom might be gained by meditating. I especially longed to hear the voices of those who preceded me here. So I picked a bouquet of roses, sat them outside on a picnic table. And on a very quiet evening I tuned in to the silence and listened.
Before I tell you the answer I received, try it yourself. Find a quiet peaceful, beautiful spot and sit awhile and try to tune in to the words, to the advice of your fathers, your grandfathers, your great aunts and uncles. Are they calming you down? Are they encouraging you? What are they telling you to do? Listen deeply. Whose words do you imagine you hear? I wonder if you'll get the message I got, which I will tell later.“Homeland Security? What Homeland Security ?”
