Thanks, Zeezil. You're right. We have to watch these amendments. There's also supposed to be one introduced by Kyl that I'm keeping an eye out for.

Kyl is up, saying because the immigration bill didn't pass, states are taking on the responsibility for enforcement. He's talking about this bill helping them out.

Talking about helping with employer verification, I think.

Talking about the execution of the laws that exist. Huh? Kyl?

We need to be able to pull Kyl's amendment as soon as possible if it's allowed in to make sure there's no tricks in it.

He's saying unless they don't show they can enforce our laws and secure the border, we won't give a green light for a more comprehensive immigration bill.

So, he's trying to fatten us up for the kill.

Sessions is up.

He's saying what good is it to pass laws if they won't be enforced any better than the old ones.

We got to have more barriers, need more fencing

He's arguing that the cost estimate is too high and not believable

How can we have enough agents to take care of 1700 miles of borders without fencing

Sessions has put in provisions for state and local rnforcement

Makes sure illegal entrants get prosecuted

They will be convicted of the crime of crossing the border illegally

Another amendment calls for more fencing . . . would fund 700 miles of fencing

Sessions amendment helps with training and assisting state and local enforcement . . . would reimburse cost to states

Federal government needs to welcome state and local assistance

Sessions already has 50 law enforcement officers trained in his state and Alabama paid for it itself

Ooooh, LaRaza isn't going to like this bill.

Sessions:
Operation Jumpstart . . .provided to keep National guard on border

Sessions amendment will allow National Guard to aid in apprehending illegals at the border . . .Will have better rules for engagement

Amendment allows deportation for both legal and illegal immigrants who commit crimes

Must not be allowed to slip through the cracks

Institutional Removal program is in his amendment. Go from jail to directly back across the border

Convictions will stand . . . judges will be unable to change it

We have a serious problem here . . 27% of inmates for crimes other than immigration charges are not legal citizens

Plus over 600,000 absconders

Makes sure every single illegal entrant is prosecuted . . .currently a misdemeanor . . . makes sure the crime is recorded

Family based and employment based immigrants must have sponsers and sponser has to pay back any governement assistance used . . .This is already a law, but has never been enforced

Security at the border . . those of us who supported a comprehensive immigration bill are serious about security

He's rubbing the immigration bill in everybody's face

Saying this is only to make those Senators okay with their voters

Says doesn't get rid of the magnet of jobs . . maybe has a good political ring to it

As long as we don't deal with the magnet of jobs . . he's going to support an alternative to the Graham amendment. He's going to try to introduce an amendment for the AgJobs provision . .
