The main reason for the need for a Constitutional Ammendment is because some homosexual radicals wage a very active war against Judeo-Christian values, and the marriage ammendment is a legitimate response to gays attempting to force others to accept their lifestyle.
The only war against Judeo-Christian values (whatever that may mean), is divorce. So when is someone with these "values" going to propose an amendment to make divorce illegal?

Just because Gay people may keep a clean lawn or a well painted house does NOT mean that those same people aren't in the local junior high school trying to force kids to wage "documentaries" that promote homosexualit
Promote homosexuality? I don't know about you, but it never was a choice for me. I've been straight all my life, and couldn't change that any more than I could change my DNA.

It is very debatable whether gays as a population would be helping the local economy. The gay population for better or worse has a far higher rate of HIV and STD - on a percentage basis - than the heteroxexual population does.
Sheesh. The highest HIV rate is occurring in the African American communities, especially black women. http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/topics/aa/resour ... ets/aa.htm

The highest STD rate is among young people ages 15-24. http://www.cdc.gov/std/stats/trends2004.htm

Where they are active in community affairs, it is often because they have a gay underground network that runs into the offices of most city governments. Their control of the disbursement of federal grants on the local level is what allows them to receive all sorts of benefits that non-gay people would not have access to.
Don't forget those sniper-scopes for defense of their territory, and heat- seeking bullets. Invisible, silent, black helicopters with mind-control rays. Personnel with invisible, silent, black armored suits. (A mind control ray is about the size of a case of 2 dozen fluorescent tubes, and a few hundred pounds in weight. However, it's easy to set up, and is of course invisible.)

I swear to God, Greyerhat, if you do not wish to marry a homosexual, no one in the world is going to force you to do so.

If this amendment sees the light of day, it will be extremely bad for our Constitution.

They're pushing this as a test case. It would set precident and watch them begin to shred what's left of the CONSTITUTION.

The founders made is extremely difficult to amend our most valuable Document for a reason.

With the grooming by LaRaza and other anti-American groups over the past 30+ years, our Congress is filling with Latinos who want to take over our nation and communists/socialists who are backing them. One amendment and they're home free!
    This is a State issue.

We should be very careful what we wish for as it will come back and bite us in the tush.

Most gays do not have HIV and are not participating in any welfare programs for their entire long lives. Very few care about "recruiting children to be gay". Most will tell you that it would be much easier to be hetero. Looking back I realize that my best teachers were gay. I did not realize they were gay when I was a child (it wasn't talked about).

I don't know one gay person involved with supporting any form of illegal immigration, and I live in the middle of gay Atlanta.

Most child molesters are hetero men that are married.

Marriage as a legal contract and moral condition does not work in the USA anymore. It has every court in the land bogged down with Divorce Proceedings and Child Custody hearings. It is a nice idea in theory. If you are one of the few that can make it work -great. I really don't want to get into the religious side of it.

The illegals are using our already kooky laws to their own advantage. Our laws encourage the irresponsible scenarios of haveing children you can't afford and letting everyone else take care of them. People are not responsible and don't choose to make good decisions because they don't have to. The children suffer in the end.

As a hetero, I don't understand some of the things heteros do sexually, and otherwise, and I am not interested. Nor will I appoint myself judge and jury as to the moral issues. Same goes for gay folks. I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYONE DOES IN THERE BEDROOM.

It is not for me to understand everything in life. I don't understand why heteros that marry and breed think they are the "chosen" people with rights to everyone else's tax monies. I don't understand why people who really can't afford children have one, and then they stupidly have some more. We are not in the 1950's anymore.

Anyone that pays in to the system should have the same rights. This is not the case in the USA. The current tax code gives so many breaks for those that have children, and those children are already educated by the taxpayers as a whole. Where are the breaks for independent responsible single taxpayers??

This is another "smoke and mirrors issue", meant to get the self-righteous back in Bush's pocket. If he can get them stirred up enough, they will lose sight of the ability to reason.

I am so sorry I started this debate, my point again was not with the marriage ban, it was that Bush said...

was that an important issue like this should be brought to the people of this country. what I am outraged about is if that is what he is implying, should not the illegal immigration issue come to the people of America, the voting people.(as illegal immigration is the bigger issue)

Again, I apologize if I started a bad debate, I for one could care less, I am Christian and I have gay friends who got married, and some who want to but can not, so I understand both sides. As with abortion, I do not feel that gay marriage has anything to do with politics, those are private issues, and should not be part of anyone platform...

Unless they do something extraordinary with cloning no gay union is going to result in 10 new resentful children to drain our resources.

We were all forewarned that Rove and crew would raise the marriage issue to get republicans to the polls. It's time for us to stop letting them play us.
I don't think we should step up to the plate on this one.
Illegal immigration has a much greater impact on our day to day lives than gay marriage.
Look at it another way why should homosexuals get off the hook, make them marry and mow the yard and drive mini-vans too.

I for one voted here in Oregon to pass measure 36 (One Man, One Woman!). We had this issue forced upon us in Multnomah County when 4 of the county commissioners, minus the one man who is conservative, had a secret meeting and told the county ok to issuing marriage licenses to gay couples, minus voter approval that is.

So the backlash was voters got together, put it on the ballot, and said NO!!! Now the county chairwoman also no longer has a job !!

So, I support Bush 100%, BUT....we are highly off subject and what we are NOT seeing Bush do is something about illegal immigration and securing our borders, that is what we are here for!!

Don't let yourselves be caught up in this discussion, as we are all here about illegal immigration. We might think differently on this, but we DO NOT on illegal immigration, do not let yourselves be sidelined!!

Sure, George Bush is using the Gay Marriage issue to change the topic from immigration and to try and raise his approval ratings.

Let's keep the focus on the illegal immigration issue please. Our boards have nothing to gain by discussing this issue other than to acknowledge the Bush strategy. In fact, we accommodate his plans if we adjust our debate to that issue which has nothing to do with illegal immigration other than his strategy.

should not the illegal immigration issue come to the people of America, the voting people.
One would certainly think so but I would qualify that with the LEGAL voting population with DECENT VERIFIABLE methods of certifying those votes.

    2nd said,

If this amendment sees the light of day, it will be extremely bad for our Constitution.

They're pushing this as a test case. It would set precident and watch them begin to shred what's left of the CONSTITUTION.

The founders made is extremely difficult to amend our most valuable Document for a reason.
It would be extremely unlikely it will make it through the House and the Senate. However, having said that ... should the critters shoot us in the head again and pass it through the House and Senate. The war would not be over but the first battle we might have a chance of winning would begin.

Let me explain my thinking. The Constitution has been referred to as a "just a d...m piece of paper" by our president. IT as well as the Bill of Rights has been already been shredded by legislation under the Patrioit Act.

The Constitution has been locked in a dark closet at the bottom of some cold dark cellar in the White House and is only pulled out when they want to make American Citizens feel warm and cozy. They use it when they need it and at no other time.

SHOULD the ratification of an ammendment be put before the States it would REAFFIRM our constitution and in fact strengthen both the States rights as well as validate our Constitution is still a functional document.

This would be a battle out in the open as opposed to all the stuff they have pulled behind closed doors. REMEMBER .... To ammend our constitution 38 states must agree to it. Not an easy task and besides some states have already weighed in on the issue.

This would provide an opportunity for the States to reclaim rights which have absolutely been legislated away from them since Lincoln!

I for one would like to see the States take back the power and slap down Washington. The States actually enforcing the will of the people on this topic / ammendment would be one for our side (the best interest of this nation! - The reaffirmation of our Constitution)

Again having said that ... given the history of this group one should look very very carefully and figure out what benefit it would be to Washington to see the Constitution opened up for ammendment and the power of the people excercised. My gut tells me it would be like all other legislation slipped past our blind eyes... the devil in the details and the phrase "and for other purposes."

That is what needs to be looked at and I apologize but my mind just does not go where those minds in Washington wander. I can't begin to second guess what alterior motives Bush and co. would have to suggest this. UNLESS it is as simple as it appears ... distraction knowing full well it won't get out of the Congress.

The interest of our citizens and preservation of this Nation has never been in the forefront of this group so there fore we need to figure out what's in it for them.

I don't understand why Bush is so hellbent on amending the constitution. Isn't this the same idiot who stated that the constitution was nothing, but a g-d damn piece of paper? So if he thinks it was worthless then, why does he think it's worth a damn now?

Like I said in an earlier thread, this is nothing more than a distraction to keep us from focusing on the other more important issues at hand. So we are suppose to forget all those other times he stabbed us in the back because he's going to ban gay marriage? Well Whoppdeedamndoo Jorge. Our nation is falling apart and being invaded by thousands a day, but lets keep gays from marrying. Yeah that will teach those illegal aliens a lesson. This attempt to pander to his base to get votes after all he's done is beyond disgraceful and so transparent it's pathetic. If conservatives vote for these Rino traitors because of this after all they have done then we deserve to lose our country.

Next card they will pull out is the terror card. Guarantee you (and you can quote me on this everyone) that sometime between August and October you'll see another Bin Laden video mysteriously pop up out of nowhere and these clowns are all going to yell TERROR, TERROR, we are the only ones that can save you, you better vote for us because the Democrats are so much worse and you'll surely get bombed if they take over. Say it won't happen. I'll bet anyone here it will. If the gay marriage and abortion rackett won't work, the scare tactics might. Guarantee you also that this talk of ending Gay Marriage will end after election, you'll never hear about it again until 2008.

Gay marriage and abortion. Why do so many idiots vote for these politicans just based on these irrevelant issues? I've seen so many people not vote for a Tom Tancredo like Republican because even though they were strong on immigration, trade, spending and all the other important issues that are affecting our nation, but we couldn't vote for him/her because they supporting gay marriage or they were pro abortion or vice versa. How dumb is that? Gay marriage and abortion are issues that are meant to divide us. We can't be distracted. We need to be united more now then ever. Tell Jorge Bush and his minions that they can take their GAY MARRIAGE BAN AND SHOVE IT MOD EDIT. Tell them the only move you support from them is TO RESIGN IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE THEY ARE A JOKE AND A DISGRACE TO OUR NATION.

JORGE BUSH IS THE BIGGEST DISASTER TO EVER HIT AMERICA.
